We were lucky to catch up with Mckenna Raymond recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mckenna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
If I could go back in time I would have definitely started my career my 12th grade year in high school. The main thing I would have changed about my experience would have been to believe in myself and trusting my creative gifts would lead me to something impactful. Around that time I was still finding myself. I was battling with normality or actually obtaining a dream only I could see at the moment. I’m glad I experienced both scenarios . It helped me navigate throughout my career.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For any reader that’s new to me and my brand. My name is McKenna Sharmaine. I have worked relentlessly to produce my nail career and entrepreneurial career . Which consist of nail sculpting, popular nail designing & any of my clients therapist if need be. I’ve worked amongst fellow beauty industry officials in my home town in regards to two events that were structurally put together for all beauty officials to work together and other great entrepreneurs to buy or sale their merchandise to any and everyone available. I’ve also been apart of an amazing podcast titled “we’re the new adults”. Such a great opportunity to let my voice be heard while being partnered with such a great interviewer. That interview will be listed on my profile. Looking back at my career one thing that I’m most proud of is taking the risk. One thing I want everyone to take from my article is to trust yourself & know yourself. Take the risk & don’t look back.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The main factor that played in building my reputation was staying true to myself . Showing up as myself & trusting that being myself would get the job done. When I started my nail career in my town there wasn’t anyone doing what I was doing or presenting new trendy techniques. Since then there have been a wide spread of great artists. My reputation is was & still is tied to setting a tone /standard for nail artistry & artists to let their creativity run wild.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing a clientele is being dependable and relatable. When someone sets an appointment or reach out to you for a service they’re depending on an answer and they’re depending on you to execute the service they’ve booked. Most importantly they’re depending on you to be there . I’ve seen clients come and go until I understood I have to be someone they can trust & depend on . It’s the principle.
