We recently connected with Mccall Cascaes and have shared our conversation below.
McCall , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you in your professional career?
As an exercise science major, I spent two years working in outpatient therapy clinics, where I encountered a wide range of patients— from elderly individuals in wheelchairs to athletes and young children. In those hours, I administered electrical stimulation to muscles, guided clients through exercises, and most importantly, engaged in conversations with each one. It wasn’t just about the treatments; it was about the human connections. Those interactions, sometimes lasting for hours, were by far the most fulfilling part of the job. Now, as I transition into the world of digital marketing, I carry those lessons with me. While some might view marketing as a step away from personal connection, reduced to pixels on a screen, I see it differently. Whether it’s a virtual ad campaign or a face-to-face conversation with a patient, marketing is fundamentally about facilitating interaction. And great marketing? It facilitates community. I never imagined that my clinical experience would have such a profound impact on my approach to marketing, but it’s clear now—human connection is at the heart of both worlds.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When I first sat down to answer this question, I found myself staring at the screen, fingers hovering over the keyboard, uncertain how to perfectly encapsulate who I am and what I do. The truth is, I’m just at the beginning of my story (as cliché as that may sound, it’s real). I recently graduated with a degree in exercise science, but over the last five years, I discovered a passion that would redefine my career—digital marketing. What began as monetization of my personal online presence led to agency contracts with FLYD Media, partnerships with Viktor & Rolf, and collaborations with Dossier Fragrances. That monetization quickly evolved into a deeper fulfillment in helping others build their own identities. This realization led me to take a bold leap from exercise science to digital campaigns. Now, my passion lies in creating visual assets and campaigns, and I’ve had the privilege of freelancing for AI and health start-ups. My journey into this industry began officially at TCC Entertainment, which opened doors deeper into the industry. In today’s oversaturated digital landscape, where it’s easy to get lost in the noise, I’m driven to create work that stands out—not just for the sake of visibility, but for meaningful impact. I want everything I produce to be intentional, purposeful, and authentic, ensuring that each piece contributes to building a more thoughtful, engaging digital space. Today, I’m proud to be part of what I believe is the best agency in the world, working alongside some of the most talented people in the industry. As I look to the future, I’m excited to continue pushing boundaries and revolutionizing the world of media, one intentional piece at a time.
Have you ever had to pivot?
It was in the back of my senior capstone lecture that the weight of an impending pivot truly set in. I found myself reflecting on four years of rigorous education, extensive clinical experience, and an internship that seemed to solidify my trajectory in the sciences. Yet, amidst that culmination, an unrelenting question lingered: how could I reconcile my science degree with a burgeoning passion for the creative world of digital marketing?
Two weeks before graduation, I faced the reality of reshaping my career path—shifting from the physical to the creative. It was a daunting crossroads, but during that transformative time, the most impactful resources weren’t books or courses; they were people. Networking became the bridge that allowed me to translate my skills into new opportunities and ideas into tangible outcomes.
Jeffrey Kazmucha, my capstone professor and a seasoned entrepreneur, played a pivotal role in this shift. His affirming words and vast network invigorated my confidence to carve out a space for myself in the digital marketing industry. Through his belief in my potential, I was referred to an opportunity with a performance start-up, VYSRE, where I developed independent proposals and branding strategies. His unwavering support didn’t just open doors—it solidified my own belief in what I could achieve.
Eli Wright, a creative coordinator at Arcbound and a multifaceted artist, was another instrumental figure. His ability to approach strategic marketing as an art form completely reshaped how I viewed creative work. Eli’s dedication to crafting aesthetics and branding that encapsulate a vision continues to inspire me.
Without those spontaneous Zoom calls between classes and my persistent outreach for mentorship, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Their guidance not only helped me pivot but also underscored the power of human connection in transforming uncertainty into possibility.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
While books and traditional resources provide a solid foundation, the most profound impact on my mindset has come from the guidance and inspiration of individuals in my network.
Mentors like Jeffrey Kazmucha and Eli Wright have been pivotal in shaping my approach to both professional growth and creativity. Jeffrey’s unwavering belief in my abilities gave me the confidence to take bold leaps in my career, empowering me to embrace opportunities I might have once overlooked. Similarly, Eli’s mastery of strategic branding and marketing taught me the transformative power of blending creativity with precision. His artistry continues to inspire me to craft strategies that are both innovative and deeply impactful.
Their influence underscores a fundamental truth: your network is your most valuable resource. Surrounding yourself with individuals who are driven, innovative, and committed to success creates an environment where ideas flourish and opportunities naturally emerge.
I’ve also drawn inspiration from Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s tenure at Calvin Klein. Her ability to embody and elevate a brand’s ethos with authenticity and grace has always been a source of motivation. Her career serves as a reminder of the power of vision and the lasting impact of aligning personal creativity with professional identity.
Ultimately, I believe that true growth stems from a delicate balance of self-education, real-world application, and the wisdom gained through meaningful connections. It’s at the intersection of these elements that the most valuable lessons are learned—and where the foundation for lasting success is built.
