We recently connected with Mazen Shafee and have shared our conversation below.
Mazen, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I have been making music for a few years now and it’s so much more then just instruments and vocals to me, but more a way of life. As crazy as it sounds , music has taught me how to grow as a person on a spiritual level and has made me reach mental heights within my self that I didn’t know existed. Todays music that’s trending is very miss leading and counteracts the life that we all should be striving to attain. Music, in my most humble opinion cannot be created from a genuine place if it’s only used as a way to “make money”. The craft itself is something that holds precious value as it can one day influence millions of people. That pressure alone has made me contemplate deleting my older songs that don’t fully represent me anymore , countless times. My goal is to change the way music is listened to forever. Positive music! Enlightening music! Spiritual music! I will continue this mission to popularize positive lyrics🙏 I want to leave a legacy of greatness not for a “fame” aspect but for my interests of helping people around world. Everyone is capable of making change in this world and my only hope is to contribute to that change in a way that translates to people well. Through Love and light💡
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi. I am a music artist by the name of “Mazz” and I make all styles of music really. From alternative r&b , to pop, to synth wave to retro 80s style and much more. I strive to be as versatile in music as i possible can and I’m still experimenting in other lanes. Life as a musician should be a non stop evolution. If you ever want to listen to music that doesn’t contain the common lyrics of violence and negativity, I may be your next favorite artist! I hope! My only hopes is if I’m taking attention from you, that I offer something in return. Wether that’s you leaving with a positive emotion and outlook or just pushing you to be better overall. I believe what sets me apart from others is my tenacity and courage. I push my self everyday to do what’s right and to deliver you all something more meaningful then just a quick listen. I also don’t want to lead anyone in this world astray so I connected with the one who sent me on this mission. Without god we are literally nothing 🙏 It’s hard to mention what I’m most proud of as I feel I still have so much to do and overcome, but If I must say.. it would just be the person I have became over the years. I know it may sound self centered but on another note a lot of the physicality of things doesn’t truly excite me as much as the little things we tend to take advantage of. 2024 I have so much planned and I’m working on the creative ways of bringing you all with me on this journey. I will be working on community channels , quality music of course , merchandise , helping other genuine curators, raffles and a lot more god willing!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
So a little over three years ago I decided to quit smoking marijuana. Well funny story was it wasn’t really my choice or intention to quit for good that very day haha. I had quit many times before this, but had found my way back to it after a few months. One day me and my friend were at the beach and had this awakening and he randomly says “hey how about as of today we stopped smoking for good?” And I immediately responded “ok done” with zero hesitation. As It wasn’t something that I ever felt “addicted” to per se but maybe overly reliant on it. I had been smoking on and off all through out high school and hit that point where that was the first thing I would think of when I was down or “depressed”. Reason why I put that word in quotations is because that was something I was telling my self I was , every single day which could’ve been true.. but what was more true is the fact I would ignore the problem at hand and look for any distraction I can find wether it was smoking , television , phone use etc. which would ultimately result in me finding any label as an excuse to why I was feeling how I was feeling. The quitting of weed i want to say was a big part of my growth spiritually & musically amongst the other changes I implemented in my life over the years.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I wouldn’t say my presence on social media is anywhere near as large as I would like it to be , but I have learned a lot working with social media. One thing for sure is you must build connections with people. Wether that’s directly or indirectly. What I mean by that is responding to everybody thats connecting with you on your posts, through dms , etc.. This mainly goes to the ones first starting as it can be nearly impossible to connect with each and every single person engaging with you once you reach a certain level, but at that level that’s understood by people. But! Genuineness goes a long way regardless of your social status. As long as it’s in your control I believe you should always reach out to the ones that contribute to your growth and/or love you and what you have going on. Indirectly connecting with your fans online can be vaguely addressing their points in a video for example with out mentioning their name. Building content around they’re concerns!
