We were lucky to catch up with Mazdak Movahedi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mazdak , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
We are a premium Persian/Iranian beer company based in Arizona, founded in 2019. Our journey began when we noticed a gap in the global market for Persian beer, despite Persian brewers being among the pioneers of brewing, dating back to 3500 BC. After years of research, we rediscovered an ancient brewing method and formula, which we now combine with cutting-edge technology and modern brewing equipment in the United States.
Currently, we offer a premium Pilsner in the market, and we’re excited to soon introduce a unique range of IPAs, infused with traditional Persian ingredients like basil, saffron, and turmeric, delivering a one-of-a-kind taste experience.

Mazdak , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Our brand name, Parseas, is a blend of “Pars” (Persian) and “Seas,” symbolizing the Caspian Sea and Persian Gulf, key elements of Persian heritage. Our logo is an abstract fusion of the lion and sun, a nod to the ancient Iranian symbol “Shir-o-Khorshid,” reflecting strength, pride, and tradition.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I am the founder and owner of Parseas, and this is how it all started: In 2018, I went with a group of American friends to a beautiful Persian restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona. They were eager to try Persian food and enjoy some beer, but we quickly realized that there were no Persian beers available on the market.
I approached several friends about partnering to brew authentic Persian beer, but no one was willing to invest. So, with a small budget, I decided to go for it alone. I bought all the brewing equipment and sought advice from a master brewer. I handled everything myself—designing the logo, brand, and website, navigating governmental documentation, licensing, and approvals, and managing all marketing, digital marketing, and social media.
As a small business, the journey is still a daily battle, with financial challenges along the way. But what drives us forward is the passion and hope that one day, everyone will have the chance to experience an authentic Persian premium beer.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
always take the risk.
