Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mayra Torres. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Mayra, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
Prior to opening my business I had been away from social media platforms. I reopened my social media accounts when I started my business and it has definitely been difficult.
I do still manage my own social media and enjoy learning about it each day.
I believe that my audience will really get to see how much I have grown as a person and as a business owner through my social media and that’s why it’s important that I continue to manage it.

Mayra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Mayra and I am the owner of Lash Pearl Studio & Lash Supply Store in San Antonio, Texas.
Cosmetology and beauty have always been a subject I have been passionate about but I never really believed that It could be a career for me. I grew up with the mentality that I had to attend a 4 year college to have a fruitful career. After I had my son, I really wanted a change of career and life. I wanted freedom to spend more time with my son and that’s when I decided it would be a great time to learn lash extensions and pursue a career in the lash and beauty industry.
I also started working and researching into my lash product line and creating the products that I now sell.
It took several months but now I have a lash studio where I sell professional lash products online and in person.
I am proud to say that my lash store is the first in the south San Antonio area offering such a variety of professional lash products.
Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
The initial capital to fund my business all came from money I had saved while still at my previous job. Initially I had started saving for the purchase of my first home but I ended up not buying the house. I instead used that money to pay for cosmetology school, lash trainings and certifications and later for the opening of my business.

Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
I also sell professional lash products for other lash artists. These products can be ordered online or if you are local to the area you can stop by and shop in person. The products I sell are the same products I use when I perform lash extension services for my clients. I recently also started offering a workshop that concentrates on one specific aspect of our craft. Customers who purchase lash products from my store expressed an interest in learning more about the subject which is why I developed my 1-on-1 workshop.
