Alright, Mayra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

The name of my business Aryam Ruby Cosmetics comes from my own name. My first name is Mayra so it’s Aryam backwards and Ruby is my middle name . My husband and I actually came up with the name Aryam because we were discussing what we should name our children one day and he said if we have a girl we should name her Aryam, I loved the name but not for a child and so when I started my business I decided to use that name for it instead.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

For those who don’t know me, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mayra, I’m a twenty nine year old wife to my husband, Eduardo, fur-mom to three fur babies, US Army Veteran, member of the Florida National Guard, college student and owner of Aryam Ruby Cosmetics. I was raised along side my four siblings by a strong, independent, hardworking woman named Alicia. She has always encouraged us to pursue our dreams and work hard for what we want in life. Therefore, while serving overseas in South Korea I decided to pursue my passion for all things beauty and makeup. Thus, Aryam Ruby Cosmetics was born, my makeup is all vegan, cruelty free and paraben free. We offer a variety of products such as eyeshadow palettes, magnetic lashes, lipsticks, lipglosses and much more. We price our products fairly making them affordable, so that everybody has access to high quality cosmetics. We value inclusivity, we offer products that are prefect for all skin tones. We encourage self love and promote loving our natural bare faces as well as our glammed up looks. I am most proud of having a platform where I can encourage others to not give up their dreams and to be comfortable in their own skin.

How did you build your audience on social media?

When I started building my audience on social media, I would host giveaways so that people can share my pages with their followers so that I can increase my followers, this is great because they get something in return that also helps because then they will try the products as well and they can leave reviews or talk about the products with their friends and family. Word of mouth is a powerful tool as well so don’t be afraid to promote yourself or your business at any time. Brand ambassadors are another great tool to build your audience if your selling products because, then they promote your products to their followers. Always carry business cards with you. For example, if I’m wearing a lipstick and someone compliments it i can give them a business card and tell them where they can buy it. Another, piece of advice is to keep posting on social media try to do it everyday and that will help build your social media presence. Don’t be shy to talk to your followers. What has helped build my audience is hosting live videos, I usually do get ready with me videos and talk to my audience its a great way for them to get to know me and build a connection with them. It gives them the opportunity to see how my products work and see how they look on me so that they can get an idea of how it will look on them.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source of new clients for me has been doing Pop Up shops or marketing events. I’ve been fortunate to have been a part of a few pop up events so far. They are great because they show case other small businesses and it give you access to new clients as well as network with other business owners in the community. Overall, I enjoy doing these events because they have introduced me to other members in the community and its a great way to get my business name out there.
