Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mayra Garcia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Mayra, thanks for joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made?
The moment I decided to make myself a priority, I was able to make the best investment decision which was to invest in myself. I thought to myself ” if i don’t make high quality investments in my education, how can i expect people to invest to work with me?. That mindset was the moment i started making investments that were at a higher cost than the average on private makeup lessons, courses, seminars, products etc. It is that mindset that allowed me to create and produce my first online course and really master makeup without intimidation regardless of who sits in my chair. Investing in myself was what not only helped me create opportunities for myself but also boosted my self confidence,

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Mayra and I am the founder of Glowingbeautyla Beauty services where we help out clients feel and look their best in their own skin, specializing in Soft glam gravitated so many Brides to use our Beauty services and we absolutely love to be a part of their day. I have been in the Beauty business for over 11 years and have definitely learned so much along this journey. I learned to not let the things i have no control over get the best of me, have thick skin to help when business challenges arise, and always make sure to have a strong support system to keep me grounded, humble, and thriving. Makeup has been my passion since i can remember. Back when i was about 4 playing with my mom’s makeup and being amazed at all the different types of beauty products. You would always find me drawn to all things beauty as I grew up. Nudged by my mom i decided to purse makeup as an actual career and that is when it all started, I pushed through the imposter syndrome and made my passion into a career and reality. I truly believe that all women deserve to feel beautiful and confident and I believe I help boost this all around with the touch of my brush !

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Staring up in business is one of the biggest investments you can make. For me I started to ask friends and family to refer me to potential clients and would charge a very low rate to get myself out there, get practice, but also generate some income to be able to reinvest in products. After about 3 months I was able to gather enough funds to get the basics for y makeup kit. As time went on all of the money i would make would be invested back into my kit and business. For the first year this is where all of the funds I made went. This allowed me to not have to dig into my monthly income from my regular job and be able to build this side business. My biggest advice is asses where you are at and make financial decisions based on what you can afford.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started to build my social media platform as a beauty creator. I would do easy makeup tutorials and post all the time, consistency and showing up really helped me. I also ensured to always tag all of the brands that i used for makeup, eventually they started noticing me and started to repost me which helped me a lot since these were big brands. I Still ask my clients to post a selfie or photo and tag me giving a new audience a chance to get to know about my craft and my page. Cross posting or collaborating with other creators also helps. Stay consistent in showing up that is the biggest piece of advice i can offer.
