We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mayra E Sanchez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mayra E below.
Alright, Mayra E thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
The journey to starting Rose Lane Wellness began with a personal quest for balance and well-being during my corporate career in the oil and gas industry. I discovered the power of yoga and meditation to manage stress, which eventually inspired me to pursue certifications in Ayurveda, yoga, and meditation. This passion for wellness led me to establish my own practice, Rose Lane Wellness, in 2020.
Key Steps and Challenges
The first steps in establishing my business involved setting a clear vision, completing additional wellness certifications, and selecting a location that could offer a peaceful, nature-rich environment for healing. I also focused on developing unique offerings that aligned with my holistic approach—integrating Ayurveda, yoga, and meditation to support clients’ physical and mental well-being.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was transitioning from a corporate environment to becoming an entrepreneur. In the corporate world, I was used to structured tasks and systems, but as a business owner, I had to master new skills, especially in marketing and sales. I quickly realized that being passionate about wellness was not enough—I had to learn how to effectively promote my services, build a client base, and overcome my natural introversion to network and connect with potential clients.
Another challenge was establishing brand recognition. With many competitors in the wellness space, it was crucial to differentiate Rose Lane Wellness through personalized services and a compassionate, holistic approach. Building a strong online presence through social media and understanding customer needs were also essential steps in gaining traction.
Lessons Learned
Looking back, if I could do something differently, I would have stayed longer in my corporate job while building the business on the side. This would have allowed me to keep my expenses under control and reduce the financial pressure during the early stages. Juggling both would have been challenging, but the stability of a paycheck could have helped ease the transition.
Advice for Young Professionals
My biggest advice for young professionals considering starting their own practice is to plan thoroughly while still maintaining their current job. Use that time to research your market, build your brand, and develop a client base. Learning essential business skills like marketing, sales, and financial management early on is crucial, especially if those areas aren’t your strengths.
Take the leap only when you’re confident in your foundation, and be patient with the process—success doesn’t happen overnight, but with perseverance and the right strategies, it will come.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who may not be familiar with my story, I’m Mayra, the founder of Rose Lane Wellness, a holistic wellness center based in Katy, Texas. My journey into the wellness industry began in the corporate world, where I worked as an engineer for many years. While I was successful in that field, the high stress and pressure of corporate life led me to explore ways to manage my own well-being. That’s when I discovered yoga and meditation. These practices became a lifeline for me, helping me to reduce stress, improve my health, and reconnect with myself.
Inspired by my personal transformation, I decided to dive deeper into the science behind well-being. I became certified in Hatha Yoga and Primordial Sound Meditation, and later pursued training in Ayurveda—a 5,000-year-old system of holistic health that looks at the body, mind, and spirit as one. I also completed certifications in Ayurveda Perfect Health with the Chopra Center and wellness management from the University of California, Irvine (UCI).

Solving Problems for Our Clients
Many of our clients come to us because they feel overwhelmed, stressed, and disconnected from themselves. They’re looking for a way to regain balance in their lives, whether it’s through managing stress, improving their physical health, or simply finding more joy and peace in their daily routines. We provide the tools and support they need to do that. Through our Ayurveda-based assessments and practices like yoga and meditation, we help them reconnect with themselves, create healthier lifestyles, and achieve a sense of inner calm.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m most proud of the impact we’ve had on our clients’ lives. Seeing people walk away from our center feeling lighter, happier, and more at peace is incredibly rewarding. Building Rose Lane Wellness from the ground up during the pandemic has also been one of my greatest achievements. It reinforced my belief in the importance of community and the power of holistic wellness in supporting people through difficult times.
What I Want People to Know
At Rose Lane Wellness, we’re more than just a wellness center. We’re a community dedicated to helping people live healthier, happier lives. We offer a holistic, natural approach to well-being that addresses the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. Whether you’re looking to manage stress, improve your physical health, or simply find a sense of balance in your life, we’re here to support you every step of the way. We offer a unique healing space, surrounded by nature on 2.5 acres of land in Katy, where you can disconnect from the stresses of daily life and reconnect with yourself.
Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools to take control of your own well-being. We believe that wellness is a journey, not a destination, and we’re here to walk that path with you.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
Yes! If I had the chance to go back, I would absolutely choose the same path. My journey as a materials engineer has been incredibly fulfilling, and I’ve had the opportunity to expand my skills and knowledge in ways that have enriched both my personal and professional life. At the same time, transitioning into the wellness field has allowed me to serve others in a deeply meaningful way, helping people find balance and health in their lives. Combining my passion for engineering with my love for holistic wellness has given me a strong sense of purpose, and I’m truly grateful for the ability to make a positive impact in both areas.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Aside from training and knowledge, I believe networking is one of the most critical factors for success in my field. While I have a strong network in the oil and gas industry from my engineering background, my current focus is on expanding my connections within the hospitality and wellness sectors. Building relationships in these areas is essential for growing my business, and I’m actively working on broadening my network to better support my vision and reach new opportunities. Networking has been a continuous learning experience, and I understand its importance now more than ever.
