We recently connected with Mayra Chacon and have shared our conversation below.
Mayra, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I often think about wanting to give up on what I’m doing, questioning many things… and the journey to reach the goal is exhausting. I believe that to be successful you need resistance and a strong mindset, perseverance to get that thought of wanting to give up out of your mind and change it for positive thoughts that drive you to fall in love with your project again and remember your final goal.

Mayra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I studied business administration with a major in human resources. It was always a dream to be able to manage or start my own business. People sometimes say “how lucky you are” but it is about preparing skills for when the opportunity appears. I worked hard for this moment, I prepared myself by studying administration, the English language, I analyzed my market and I prepared everything financially and with the right people who will help me make this project a reality. Because you don’t necessarily have to be a chef to own a restaurant or food truck, but you do have to be a good recruiter and leader to find people who are excellent in the specialty you need or with the initiative to improve themselves every day, to learn, who share the same vision of growing as you.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My main social network is Instagram, the followers grew as the food truck participated in events, people recognize your work, your brand, who you are and want to know where you will be tomorrow or the following week… magazines, articles, TV are interested in knowing how you do your work because people speak well about your business. And another thing that also helped is that my business card has a QR code with Instagram as a strategy.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
through our social media posts, providing a great shopping experience, sharing our upcoming site where we will be available and indirectly referring frequent customers to potential customers.
