We were lucky to catch up with Mayeva Prophete recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mayeva, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
AVA-LIT was created with the purpose of being sustainable and centered around mental health. In July 2021, I attempted to commit suicide due to my mental health. After being found by my brother and sister in law, spending days at the hospital, I started thinking about ways to help soothe and calm my mind. Candles! I Always had an immense love for candles but never knew the benefits of burning them. After months of experiencing, challenges, and frustration, I decided to build a legacy.
Mayeva, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My full name is Dahyna Mayeva Prophete. On top of owning AVA, I am currently working as a clinician and content creator. I would say I’m very proud of where I came from and where I am now. I am still very much depressed and anxious and sometimes it gets really really bad but I am thankful to have such amazing human beings around me that give me a reason to live & my dog Lola as well.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
Our Slogan is “YOU-CONSCIOUS”. As mental health is my priority, I researched and surveyed my followers on Instagram to learn more about songs, colors and scents that calm them down.
Color therapy or Chromotherapy has been used over the years to cure stress and anxiety. We use colors that are not only aesthetically pleasing but colors that feed your mind positively and release stress and anxiety.
Some of our candles and room sprays are made with essential oils that purposely help with calming the mind and body.
Our candles are cruelty-free, non-toxic and contain no lead, plastics, Paraben, phthalates or synthetic dyes. AVA-LIT candles and melts are hand-poured with soy and/or coconut wax and now newly added beeswax!
We also make our candles with premium wooden wicks and braided cotton wicks.
Wooden and cotton wicks are environmentally friendly.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Doing pop ups has me getting more loyal clients!
