We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Maya Biggs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Maya below.
Maya, appreciate you joining us today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
It’s all in alignment! I’ve always been more spiritual than not! I’ve always loveddd gospel music and music in general, but gospel music with an R&B vibe would always get me and give me chills. It TWAS the year 2017 and I felt the need to further elaborate my relationship with GOD. My best friend, at the time, and I went to church and started going regularly. So much so I was baptized on February 14th, 2018. I wasn’t sure what was about to happen, but for whatever it was I needed to be closer to GOD! I would practice yoga regularly at a cannabis consuming studio, other random outdoor places or watch YouTube! Either way I would consume prior to practice. Much like my work out days where I would consume prior to the gym! My relationship with cannabis began when I was 12 I use to pinch my mom’s stash! Ironically my brother’s first time smoking was with me at the big age of 30, so I was 19 as we are 11 years apart and the only children from my mother’s womb. I believe it, our first smoke, was at my uncles funeral. My brother actually grew cannabis prior to its legalization and was getting really good and knowledgeable about the plant when he transitioned out of his physical body on February 24th 2018! This literally changed my life forever (for the better) how would I know that then as I thought I lost my 11 year older brother from complications from lupus he was 38 at the time and this was 10 days after baptism! Fast forward to January 2019 I went to yoga teacher training which lasted from January to April 2019. The particular yoga studio I went to celebrated their one year anniversary of being open February 24, 2019 giving power, alignment, and pleasure to my soul! My very first journal in teacher training was to explain how you were or are a hero and I choose to write about my experience with navigating my mom and my family through my brother’s last physical breath! Plants have always been my medicine my pops was a vegetarian my whole life and now is more vegan than not! I’ve always been more drawn to nature and it’s natural offerings to heal our bodies. Specially watching loved ones spirits leave their bodies from man made dis eases! Fast forward again I’m the mother of a 2 year old boy named Zhen therefore I am mother of Zhen or MOZ and I use a multitude of healing modalities to assist in peace finding and healing our vessels WHOLEistically! Mind body and spirit.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always known that I wanted to help people heal! Not realizing the extent of sickness in the world and all the factors. I’ve really pulled back layers that had been oiled on thick for years from society, news, fear and peers! Consumption isn’t just what we eat it’s so much more! As I realize this I’m not only being better for myself on this healing journey I’m bettering the community, by being better and setting and being the high standard. This has been my life’s work! I can’t provide what I haven’t proven to work for myself. As a kid I picked over meat which ultimately opened the door to plant based (vegan) eating! Except bacon! My grandmother introduced me to bacon and I would use it as seasoning, veggie burgers add bacon. It was hard for people to understand lol. In yoga teacher training is where I learned more about diet and how it affects the entire being beyond the body and consumption as a whole. After yoga teacher training my mother said “I want for myself what has happened to you” it was a new sense of peace. I had eliminated flesh from my diet completely, stopped watching TV, studied and practiced Reiki, Thai massage, meditation, breath work and running. Still very unsure of my specific purpose. I entered the phase of iammayamichele the girl become woman, who’s always been pretty active and healthy. This phase we released all things unnatural including birth control and all man made “medicines”. I went from playing an woodwind instrument (flute) as a youngster (breath work) to personal training to yogini to InnerG worker. I took a couple plant based nutrition courses thought I’d be a nutrition coach focusing on womb health as when I gave up flesh my menstrual cycles became mucchhhh more bearable.
Mother of Zhen is a wholeistic wellness brand that helps people tap into their inner Qi. Tapp’n in allows us to raise the vibration internally first then the collective as a whole. I learned about qi more in depth in my travels to Costa Rica where I studied qi gong.
I’ve studied and sat with plenty of mutha earths natural medicines and I n’joy creating and holding space for our healing! I also n’joy infusing joy, peace, love, crystals, and reiki into joints, and herbal capsules also.
Most recently I have stepped away from social media, leading group classes, and moved myself and my son quietly to Mexico for sumtime to surrender to my practices, my highest self to be more of a student to the practice. I am choosing to fill my own cup first b4 filling others.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The only thing constant in life is change. If we aren’t able to pivot we’ll be stuck in a loop of unproductive unhappiness. When the “pandemic” happened people either adjusted or they closed up shop! It was different and difficult if ur not use to change. In 2018, my brother transitioned I was in school and going to a christian church. In 2019, I went to yoga teacher training, became reiki attuned, and started my yoga business iammayamichele. In 2020, I worked my 9-5 I had been working for 8 years knowing my time was coming close specially with the “pandemic”. When we were sent home it was a blessing and a curse I found routine in my home life. I went on a trip with friends to Costa Rica and Guatemala and quit my job on the trip! I also found out I was pregnant as a result of this trip. My child’s father and I took many yoga trips and provided yoga for plenty vegan retreats. In 2021, I took a plant based nutrition course. I had a baby and bought a house with my child’s father and started two new businesses “motherofZhen” & “tribe house” with my child’s father. In 2022, I realized I had to slow down and be supported. We traveled and did one retreat. The yoga house that we also lived in started doing really well with plant based foods and airbnb and events. In 2023, I realized that my child’s father and I could not only live together but do business or raise a child together! I traveled alone to Costa Rica, I learned Qi Gong. I also took a flexology course and a blac Thai assisted stretch. I’ve re-evaluated a lot of my relationships, set new boundaries and become more of a student to life and all my practices. decided 2024, brought me to the Yucatan, in Merida, MX, and that’s where I am!
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Authenticity!
There is a song that I hear in my head often. Specifically a line from Big Sean where he says “What’s the difference between real love and fake love?
The same difference between real titties and fake ones. You can feel the difference. And even though it changes overtime. It stays consistent, I ain’t gonna lie though, it takes persistence”
People usually know and feel when ur not being your truest most high self. In my opinion and in my line of work it pays to be and operate as the highest version of yourself.
Consistency and practice are also necessary. Setting goals and executing.
