Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maxx Miller, Megan Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Maxx Miller, Megan Moore, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you get your first job in the field that you practice in today?
Megan and I came into our field of practice while navigating through our own issues with pain; with Megan breaking her back and myself not being able to walk at such a young age we needed to find answers to our problems instead of just putting a band-aid over multiple symptoms in our bodies.
Every doctor I went to about my walking issue wanted to just prescribe a medication with answers like “When you start to have trouble walking take this”, Deep down, It wasn’t healthcare to me. It was just beyond frustrating. Megan was already In school for Neurosomatic Therapy and recommended I see a specialist.
Looking at my posture from head to toe, the specialist found multiple dysfunctional spots in my skeletal structure and the best part was it all made complete sense. A logical reasoning to my issues and what to do about it. It was a breath of fresh air. And after my leg was fixed and my walk was better than ever I joined the school the very next semester.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Megan: I actually got into this industry by accident. I signed up for the wrong school. By the time i realized Id signed up for the wrong school I had already moved my entire life to Florida from New Jersey. To embarresed to admit my mistake, I just went with it and i’m glad I did.
Maxx: As Neurosomatic Specialists, We look at the body as a kinetic chain, with multiple moving parts. Instead of focusing on the”problem area”, we consider all the forces throughout your entire structure and how they affect the joint in question.
Megan: Pain Free Bodies Tampa believes what we do actually works and we want everyone to learn that you don’t always need a pill or surgery to get better. There are holistic and easier ways of being the best you.
Megan: We treat everything from the organs to the soft tissues that move the bones of the skull (yes, your skull is made up of a bunch of little bones and they all move!). These techniques are applied in a way that is designed to lengthen shortened tissues, reduce demands on the nervous and musculoskeletal systems, and restore balance to the structures of the body.⠀
Maxx: My proudest moment as a practitioner is seeing people graduate from their chronic pain. Seeing a persons structure change over time right in front of your own eyes is pretty awesome. I remember being there at one point so seeing the same look and feeling in your patients is quite a thing to see.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Megan: Every person in the world suffers from pain at some point in their life, so our market is endless and uncapped. Word of mouth has proven to be the most effective form of marketing, as once you help one person out of pain, they are so excited about it, and can’t wait to tell their friends. Just by doing our jobs to the best of our ability, most of our clients do the marketing for us.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Maxx: I had to unlearn that pain was a bad thing. Pain is a great thing! We’re not taught in school how to pay taxes or take care of ourselves so I never learned what to do about pain. In the sick care system we’re kind of feared into doing things that aren’t necessarily good for us. Surgeries that are completely unneeded or medications that do more harm than good mask the potentially simple thought of just listening to pain signals and understanding why they are happening. Like carpal tunnel syndrome. If you have a bunch of muscles that are insanely tight in a small space wouldn’t just treating those muscles instead of cutting the tunnel open make more sense? Again it’s a logical thought yet we still cut open people because many pain companies want to keep you on their “pain payroll”.
