We caught up with the brilliant and insightful MAXX DBL X a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi MAXX, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I spent a lot of time practicing rapping styles I thought would fit my creative tastes. Usually, rapping to instrumentals was my go to. Sometimes I wish I would have been more serious earlier on so I would be further along by now but it is what it is I’m good with where im goin with it. The most important part besides natural talent is you gotta have a great work ethic.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started making music early on as a teenager, but it was never viewed as a career path by me because it didn’t seem realistic. Later on, I kept that same passion and met different people who eventually got into music as well and became connection for me to realize that being a major artist could be a realistic outcome. I make traditional Southern rap music, heavy 808s and dirty drums are my go-to. What set my sound apart is the way I can related different messages together in a way that makes sense. The main thing I want my audience to know is that all my music is genuine and authentic.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is writing a song that either makes somebody cry or laugh or smile. Just getting that reaction is always worth it.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal of my creative journey is to turn my expressions through music into a major force in the music industry. Being an artist and an executive.
