Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maxwell Sebastian. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Maxwell, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Never measuring your own success by someone else’s rubric. Keeping expectations low, and being happy and fulfilled with what you do in life are my key indicators of being successful.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a visual artist, and i also own a small picture framing shop with my business partner Ryan Sobb called S & S Framing, located in the Crieve Hall neighborhood of Nashville TN
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Unlearning the way I would compare myself to my peers in an unhealthy manner was one of the best things I’ve ever been able to achieve. Learning how to be truly happy for friends, colleagues, collaborators, when hard earned recognition and praise comes their way. The mindset of “why not me” or “when will it be my turn” was one that had to be done away with.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Don’t be a jerk.
