We recently connected with Maxwell Reagan and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Maxwell thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
At Maxwell Tyler Interiors, I take a highly personalized approach to interior design, which sets me apart from the industry standard of mass-market design firms or one-size-fits-all solutions. Rather than imposing a signature style, I focus on crafting spaces that reflect my clients’ personalities, lifestyles, and aspirations.
One way I diverge from the traditional approach is by fostering deep, collaborative relationships with my clients. I don’t just present a set of options—I take the time to understand their unique vision, habits, and even the small details that make a house feel like home. This allows me to create designs that feel authentic and meaningful rather than just aesthetically pleasing.
A great example of this was a recent project where a client had a sentimental but outdated piece of furniture that they couldn’t part with. Instead of discarding it, I worked with a local craftsman to refinish and modernize the piece, seamlessly incorporating it into their new space. This level of personal attention and problem-solving isn’t something you typically find in larger firms.
I also prioritize hands-on involvement throughout the process—whether that means sourcing one-of-a-kind pieces, collaborating with local artisans to create custom furnishings, or being on-site to ensure every detail is executed flawlessly. My goal is not just to deliver a beautifully designed home, but to make the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable for my clients.
At the end of the day, what makes Maxwell Tyler Interiors different is the commitment to creating spaces that truly feel like home—not just another well-designed house.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
About Maxwell Tyler Interiors
I’m Maxwell, the founder of Maxwell Tyler Interiors, an interior design firm based in Saratoga Springs, NY. My journey into design wasn’t a straight path—it was shaped by a deep appreciation for storytelling, aesthetics, and the way spaces influence our lives. From an early age, I found myself drawn to interiors, constantly reimagining spaces and paying attention to the small details that make a home feel warm, inviting, and uniquely personal. Eventually, I turned that passion into a career, and today, I have the privilege of helping my clients bring their dream homes to life.
What I Do & How I Help My Clients
At Maxwell Tyler Interiors, I provide full-service interior design—from concept development to furniture selection, custom installations, and final styling. Whether my clients are building a new home, undergoing a renovation, or simply refreshing a space, I guide them through every step of the process to ensure a cohesive, beautifully designed result.
I specialize in highly personalized design, meaning I don’t follow a one-size-fits-all formula. Instead, I take the time to truly understand my clients—their lifestyle, personal tastes, and the way they use their space. My goal is to create interiors that not only look stunning but also feel like home.
What Sets Maxwell Tyler Interiors Apart?
A Personal Approach: Unlike larger firms that apply a signature style to every project, I believe in designing for the individual. Every project I take on is a unique reflection of the client, rather than a repetition of trends or templates.
Collaboration & Hands-On Involvement: I work closely with my clients, builders, and artisans to ensure every detail is executed flawlessly. Whether it’s custom furniture, unique finishes, or special architectural elements, I am actively involved in bringing the vision to life.
Local Connections & Custom Work: I take pride in sourcing unique pieces and collaborating with local craftsmen and artists to create custom furniture, cabinetry, and decor that you won’t find anywhere else. This ensures each project has a distinct, high-end feel tailored to the client.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m proud that my clients trust me not just as a designer, but as a partner in making their home a true reflection of their story. Some of my most rewarding projects have involved taking a blank slate and turning it into a space that feels deeply personal and meaningful.
For example, in one recent project, I worked with a couple building their forever home. They had a vision but were overwhelmed with choices. By listening to their needs and guiding them through the design process, I helped them create a warm, inviting home that balances elegance with livability. Seeing their reaction when everything came together was incredibly rewarding.
What I Want Potential Clients to Know
I believe great design is about more than aesthetics—it’s about function, comfort, and personal connection.
I take the stress out of the design process, helping my clients navigate decisions with confidence.
Every project is unique, and I am committed to making each space reflect the people who live in it.
If you’re looking for a design partner who will take the time to truly understand your vision and bring it to life with creativity and care, I’d love to connect!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the moments that truly tested my resilience as a designer—and as a business owner—was a project where nearly everything that could go wrong did.
I was working on a custom home design, and just as we were nearing the final stages, a major furniture order was delayed for months due to supply chain issues. The client had already sold their previous home and was expecting to move in with all furnishings ready. To make matters worse, a custom wallpaper that was supposed to be a focal point in the home arrived damaged, and a key lighting fixture was discontinued unexpectedly.
Rather than letting setbacks derail the project, I pivoted quickly and problem-solved. I sourced local artisans to create a stunning, hand-painted mural in place of the wallpaper, which ended up being even more special and unique. I personally visited showrooms and worked with vendors to find in-stock alternatives for key pieces, ensuring the home would be livable while we waited for delayed items.
What could have been a frustrating experience became an opportunity to think creatively, stay flexible, and maintain trust with my client. In the end, the project came together beautifully, and the homeowners were thrilled with the final result—especially the mural, which became one of their favorite design elements.
This experience reinforced an important lesson: resilience in design isn’t just about making things look beautiful—it’s about adapting, problem-solving, and delivering for my clients no matter what challenges arise.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely—my mission with Maxwell Tyler Interiors is to create spaces that are not just beautifully designed, but deeply personal, functional, and meaningful to the people who live in them.
I believe that great design goes beyond aesthetics—it should enhance daily life, evoke emotion, and tell a story. My goal is to ensure that every home I design reflects the individuality of my clients, making them feel truly connected to their space. Whether it’s incorporating heirloom pieces in a fresh, modern way, designing custom furniture that perfectly fits their lifestyle, or curating unique, personal touches, I strive to make every project feel intentional and one-of-a-kind.
Another driving force behind my creative journey is the desire to make the design process enjoyable and stress-free for my clients. Many people feel overwhelmed by the number of choices and decisions involved in home design, and my role is to guide them with clarity, confidence, and creativity so they can actually enjoy the experience of bringing their vision to life.
At the heart of it all, my mission is simple: to transform houses into homes that truly feel like “you.”
