We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Maxwell Haman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Maxwell below.
Hi Maxwell, thanks for joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I am very happy to be apart of Bryce n Beans. It not only serves as an outlet for creative activity and inspiration, but lifelong friends and relationships as well. Our job is unlike any other. It not only requires hard work and perseverance, but also the ability to create and perform under stressful situations or sometimes uncomfortable environments. It often feels like having a regular, basic cubicle job would be nice, or the mundaneness of it would be at least, but i know Bryce n Beans is unlike many regular occupations, and i’m so incredibly happy to be apart of it. It has resulted in some of the most fun i’ve ever had in my life, and allows me to share my passion with the world. Overall, It’s a lovely job.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We’re Bryce n Beans, a local south Tampa music group (Band). We provide sound to places which lack such. We get those who struggle to even stand, up on their feet grooving to the beat! We wish to share our love of music with the local community via public performance, participation in festivals, and hosting live shows. We perform a musical set consisting of songs ranging from the 1950s to the present time, Chuck Berry to Mac Demarco, with some originals thrown in the mix. I think wht sets Bryce n Beans apart from others is how young we are, with all members still enrolled in high school. That factor initially made it very difficult to put our foot in the door of the local music community, but eventually such factor gained an appeal which allowed us to expand our following and play in increasingly more popular areas, starting at our pianists back yard, up into our most recent performance at the 1920 Ybor, being in promotion for the Tampa Bay Suns grand opening. We are mainly proud of the progress we’ve single handedly made in the last year, such as releasing an EP of all orginal songs, entitled “Dear Alex Reeves” (streaming on all music platforms), as well as the numerous opportunities we’ve gotten to showcase our passion and talent. We suggest the community be on the lookout for our upcoming full length album releasing next year, along with any upcoming shows we may have (Perfomance info can be found on our social media and website, Instagram: @Bryce.n.beans.band, Website: Https://brycenbeans.com, Facebook: @Bryce n’ Beans
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For us, our fanbase is the most rewarding aspect of our creativity and the music we release. We love to hear what they think about our sound, and take into consideration criticisms they may have. It allows us to grow as a group, and serves as a balance for our own personal enjoyment, as well as the fans satisfaction. It’s very important to follow your own heart when creating music, but our fanbase also provides a supportive and motivating baseline for our general releases. We are very grateful for the love and enjoyment we have garnered from our fans.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Bryce n Beans has had a very rocky history. Our first drummer was a high school senior while we were still underclassmen, so it was an unfortunate truth that eventually he would have to pursue his own craft once he moved into college. We were stranded for a little while, and struggles to find a drummer which we felt suited our group best. Eventually, we found the perfect match, but our success didn’t go without consistent failure, stress, and anxiety. It was a scary period of time, as we were unsure how we would move forward with the band, and were unsure if it would even retain the same magic it once had, with a new backbeat. Luckily, it did.
