We recently connected with Maxine Meadowcroft and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Maxine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Typically I paint in themes or sets. My latest set portrays human organs intertwined with flowers, reflecting my familial ties to the medical field. I wanted to explore the idea of capturing an unsettling subject and transforming it into something visually captivating. I’m currently offering prints of this series as buttons and canvases. Recently, I’ve had the privilege of having many transplant recipients purchase my work. It’s incredibly meaningful to be able to share my art.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Maxine Meadowcroft, and I specialize in abstract paintings, pop art, and capturing whatever subject inspires me at the time.
The diversity in my portfolio provides context into what I’m feeling, while also allowing me to learn and develop new techniques. Experimenting with a wide range of subjects and mediums is what led me to where I am now. I like to paint on canvas, thrifted instruments, slabs of wood or whatever else is around me! I draw a lot of inspiration from my favorite places to visit, the people in my life, and my pet chickens.
I find joy in painting emotions that I wish to evoke in others, which is why my portfolio also includes a bunch of depictions of oceans and nature. I sell a lot of these as originals as well as some prints.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Learning from others has had a significant impact on my growth as an artist, and I should have started doing that sooner. Following tutorials online and practicing different styles that I would have otherwise strayed from has helped me develop my skill and experiment with different techniques. Moreover, studying color theory in classes has helped me effectively convey emotions to viewers and putting this into practice has made my pieces come out stronger.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There’s something incredibly fulfilling about knowing that something I’ve created resonates with someone else. Each time my gallery catches someone’s attention or they choose to take a piece of my art home, it feels like we’re making a connection.
