We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Max Venus. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Max below.
Max, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I absolutely love being an artist! It’s a great way for me to express myself & share similar feelings & experiences with other people.
Music is a way for everyone to connect so I strive to make the best art possible.

Max, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born in Denver, CO. I turn 25 years old in September. I have created numerous music projects that I produce, record, mix & master myself. My primary genres are HipHop and R&B. In 2015 I co-founded a record label with my cousin called “OuterZone Records”.
I started rapping when I was 8, & producing/recording myself when I was 12. Music has always been a passion of mine, though I did play basketball in high school. Ultimately I decided to go down the path of being an artist as it is the best way for my to express myself & share my story with others.
I dabbled a bit with poetry throughout my school years & decided to incorporate that into my craft. I believe a combination of that & the raw emotion of my stories plays a huge factor into why my art is not only different, but unique & authentic than most of what you hear nowadays.
I am proud of the evolution of my work as I put a lot of blood, sweat & tears into it. I am also grateful to have built a foundation for artists including myself who want to turn their dreams into realities, their passions into income.
Anyone who experiences my art for the first time will know from the start, all of my work is true to my life, experience & wisdom I have gained over the years. My hope is that all my fans & followers will know that they are not alone in this world, that you should always dream big & have the confidence to pursue your passion without worrying about what anyone else has to say.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I think breaking out of the stigmatization of following the system America has built for us is something that challenges artists & creatives everywhere.
A lot of times we think we’re failing at life because we don’t have a nice house, or a certain car or that we need to work a 9-5 job to be successful.
Some people are happy with that path but there are a lot of others who yearn for a more meaningful life. They let their dreams die & never accomplish their goals because they’re too afraid of what others might think of them or that they are unworthy of being more than just a worker in our society.
All I can say is all the wealthy, successful people are the ones who weren’t afraid to take risks or were afraid & still decided to take a chance anyway. You only get one shot at life, you might as well go big or go home!

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Support is the biggest key to helping others achieve their goals & them helping to achieve yours in the same instance. The truth is, in this industry you need a village to be successful with your passion.
Whether it’s a manager/agent who is helping you obtain more opportunities, your marketing team helping you to gain exposure or even somebody to manage your finances & help you budget for certain projects.
Everybody has to feed off each other & know that teamwork, consistency, discipline & motivation will benefit everybody in the long run.
