Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maurice Watson Jr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Maurice, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I believe taking a risk in life is necessary but, it can be scary at times as-well as making sacrifices, and for me the biggest thing for me was moving not just a state apart but almost across the entire nation of the United States to help further my passions and dreams in podcasting, photography, and music. Truth be told it was probably the most challenging time of my life at 19 at the time because moving away from home at a young age was tough for me but, I realized that if I didn’t move away I wouldn’t be where I’m at right now on this journey I’m on and I’m so grateful for the people that I come to know along the way.
Maurice, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Maurice Watson Jr I’m originally from Beaufort South Carolina but I moved to Arizona as of July 2022 to pursue my passions and dream as a podcaster and potential entrepreneur. I started podcasting in July of 2020 at first my podcast was called, “Rease Thoughts And Piece Of Mind” podcast yes I know that sounds corny and cheesy but we all have to start somewhere right? But now my podcast is named as the “Real Raw Authentic Podcast.”But at first I started out doing episodes as a way for me to tell personal stories that ends in advice and motivation to the person that’s listening and even for me to vent about how I feel or what I was going through at the time during 2020. But it snowballed into this point in time I started doing interviews locally in Beaufort with the likes of rappers, content creators, and entrepreneurs as way to develop a small platform. Now fast forward to now I started doing YouTube for my podcast to help grow my audience and I’m also the host of another podcast titled the Teen411. I believe what separates me from other podcasters/ interviewers is my intentions as-well as the message behind which is too inspire, motivate, and some form of entertainment. I believe what I’m most proud is that I have supporters that’ toke time out of their day to listen to any episode I produce or content for that matter And I hope I’ll be able to reach more people in the future.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There was a time I actually thought about giving up on podcasting at the time because at the time I felt like I wasn’t getting enough plays, I felt like I wasn’t receiving the support I wanted at the time I felt like I wasn’t making any progress as much regardless of how many time I stayed up to finish post production when I got school the next day or whatever the case may be. But there was a person that reached out too me and he said “What’s up bro I just finished your episode and I just wanna say thank you so much! I got tears coming down my face man keep doing your thing.” Ever since then it gave me hope, it gave me motivation and it gave me confidence in my self.” I realize that my voice can touch so many peoples lives without even knowing and I feel like it means a lot to me that I was able to make someone’s day through my episodes and content
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think it’s being able to share your content to the world and being able to inspire and motivate others to go after there dreams and aspirations and develop this fan base that resonates with you, and I mean sure I would love too make money from what I love to do and being able to give back to those that been there for me and I will get there someday but i think being able to touch peoples lives with what I do regardless of race, creed, gender, or ethnicity is the more rewarding thing for me there’s so many genuine things money just can’t buy.
