We recently connected with Maurice & Kimberly Sanchez and have shared our conversation below.
Maurice & Kimberly , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you as a business owner?
I worked at a grocery store when I was 16 years old and quickly learned how important customer service and first impressions are. Imagine walking into a grocery store where the employees don’t greet you, and if you asked for help, they ignore you. An incident like that can really ruin your experience as a customer and have you avoid that store altogether. I believe people deserve to be treated with respect and served with a courteous attitude and the utmost patience. It becomes a win-win situation for you and the customer because you build trust and gain their loyalty. My wife and I prioritize our customers because we genuinely want to create an unforgettable experience filled with sweet joy because why not.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello everyone, we are Maurice & Kimberly Sanchez, a husband and wife duo. We started our business in 2022, by selling home-made cookies by the dozen. We later expanded our menu to include cheesecake, brownies, banana pudding and mini pancakes to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth cravings. When we make desserts, our intentions are to impress people. In order to achieve that, we need the highest quality ingredients, patience and attention to detail. Quality over quantity is what we live by.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Initially our investment was around $200 to buy ingredients and a few essentials that we need for baking and packaging for our cookies. After selling our cookies, we would take the profit and regenerate it back into the business. We did this a few times and gained enough capital to make some upgrades and buy more equipment, which led to even more growth. Having discipline with money management is one of the keys to success so if you’re interested in starting your own business one day make sure to do research on finances and investing.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building our audience on social media was tough at first, but one important piece of advice we can give you is to always be consistent. No matter what, always post on all your forms of social media. Keeping your audience constantly engaged is such a key factor because you won’t become forgotten. You also want to be relatable, people love when they can relate to someone. Another piece of advice that we can give you, is to not focus too much on the number of followers or compare your business to others because everyone’s milestones are different. We are all successful in our own ways.
