We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Maurice Costello. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Maurice below.
Hi Maurice, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business really came from living and breathing music every single day. I started out just producing beats in my room — experimenting, learning, and finding my sound. But over time, I realized I wasn’t just creating music, I was building a culture. The people who gravitated toward my sound weren’t just fans, they were part of a lifestyle — one that mixed ambition, authenticity, and creativity.
That’s when the vision started forming. I wanted to build something bigger than myself — something that gave artists like me a platform to grow, and a way to represent who they are beyond the music. That’s how Hit 4 Hyt Records was born — a label designed not just to release tracks, but to give artists the space to own their identity, sound, and message.
From there, the energy naturally flowed into fashion. I’ve always believed that style is an extension of sound — the way you dress says as much as the way you create. That’s what inspired BLK~SIGͶAL Clothing. It became more than merch — it’s a movement that reflects the same boldness, resilience, and individuality that defines my music.
What excited me most was seeing how these worlds connect — music drives culture, and culture drives fashion. Together, they speak the same language. I knew it would work because I was living it — the same energy I put into my beats was the same energy I saw people wearing, reposting, and relating to.
Ultimately, I wasn’t just solving a problem — I was creating a bridge. A way for artists and listeners to express themselves in every form — sound, look, and lifestyle. That’s when I knew it wasn’t just an idea. It was purpose.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Heaven.JrBeatz, and I’m a music producer, entrepreneur, and creative based in New York. I’ve been producing music for over a decade, specializing in Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, trap, and drill — genres that have not only shaped me but also allowed me to blend culture and emotion through sound.
My journey started long before I thought of it as a “career.” Music was always my outlet — a way to tell stories without saying a word. Over time, that passion grew into something bigger. I wanted to give artists like myself a home — a place where creativity wasn’t boxed in by industry limits. That vision led to the creation of my record label, Hit 4 Hyt Records.
At Hit 4 Hyt, we focus on artist development, production, and creating opportunities for talent that often gets overlooked. We’re not just pushing out songs — we’re building careers, shaping sounds, and helping artists find their unique identity. I bring a hands-on approach to every project, from beat production to branding, to make sure the final product doesn’t just sound good — it feels timeless.
That same drive for self-expression and originality led to my second venture: BLK~SIGͶAL Clothing. The brand represents the same energy I put into my music — bold, authentic, and unapologetically different. The “signal” stands for standing out in a world full of noise. The clothes carry the same message as the beats — individuality, culture, and confidence.
What sets me apart is that everything I create is built from real experience and genuine love for the art. I’m not chasing trends — I’m building movements that people can feel connected to. Whether it’s through a record, a collaboration, or a piece of clothing, my goal is to inspire others to take control of their craft and their story.
What I’m most proud of is seeing my ideas turn into platforms that empower others — watching artists I’ve worked with grow, and seeing people proudly wear something that represents my brand’s message.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my brands, it’s that this is all about purpose, passion, and progression. Everything I touch is rooted in culture, built on authenticity, and created to inspire the next generation to move with confidence and chase greatness — on their own terms.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
There was a point in my journey where I had to completely pivot from just being a producer behind the scenes to building full brands that represented everything I stood for. At first, I was only focused on making beats and working with artists — but I realized that while the music was powerful, I was still depending too much on others to get my vision out there.
The turning point came when I noticed how many talented people around me had the sound, the image, and the story — but no real platform to grow from. That’s when I decided to build my own lane. Instead of waiting for opportunities, I created them. I founded Hit 4 Hyt Records, not just as a label, but as a community that empowers independent artists to own their sound and direction.
But the pivot didn’t stop there — I wanted my creative identity to live beyond music. That’s what gave birth to BLK~SIGͶAL Clothing. It became another form of storytelling — taking the same emotions from my beats and translating them into fashion.
That shift taught me that pivots aren’t about starting over — they’re about evolving. Every time I hit a wall, I learned to build a door instead. It pushed me to think bigger, to connect the dots between sound, style, and culture. That moment of change ended up defining my path as both an artist and entrepreneur.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One story that really shows my resilience comes from the early stages of my career, before I had any real connections or recognition. I was producing day and night — sometimes on borrowed equipment, sometimes in small spaces that barely felt like studios — just chasing a sound I believed in. There were moments when I questioned if it was worth it. I’d see people around me give up because the results didn’t come fast enough, but something in me refused to stop.
There were times I sent beats out and never heard back, times when collaborations fell through, and times when I had to choose between investing in my craft or taking the easy route. But every setback became a lesson. Instead of letting those moments break me, I used them to build consistency and confidence.
That mindset eventually turned into Hit 4 Hyt Records and BLK~SIGͶAL Clothing — both born from persistence. I realized no one was going to hand me an opportunity, so I created my own. When doors didn’t open, I built new ones.
My resilience comes from knowing that every challenge is part of the process. I’ve learned that progress isn’t always loud — sometimes it’s quiet, lonely, and demanding. But if you keep showing up, those quiet moments turn into success stories. That’s what keeps me grounded and hungry — knowing that everything I’ve built came from faith, patience, and never backing down when things got tough.
