Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mattie Lewis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mattie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success comes in many different forms to people. To me, success is fulfillment. It takes hard work, focus, dedication and the WANT to do it. I remind myself daily that I can do anything I put my mind to!
Mattie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Mattie Lewis. I am happily married to the man of my dreams living my best life as a mother to our 3 beautiful, healthy babies. We live in Mckinney, Tx where we are part owners of Tupps Brewery (a Craft Brewery) and Hard Seltzer brand called Blur. Ever since I was a child, I’ve had a camera in my hands. I have always been drawn the beauty of the everyday. I believe it is my gift to be able to capture life’s most precious moments to call on and pass down for generations to come. Lifestyle portraits are my forte. Expect my photo sessions to be a GREAT time! The more fun we have, the better!
It takes bravery and courage to be in front of the camera. It is my goal to make you feel like your best self, living your best life with the ones you love the most.
My directing style and prompts are playful, natural and make you feel like you’re in your element.
I am most proud of how committed I am to my clients. I strive to give each and every client my best work and an outstanding experience.
I believe in a positive, happy and encouraging lifestyle. My aesthetic shines true me. Raw. Real. Wholesome.
I think that’s what sets me apart from other photographers… capturing real life moments from my perspective.
Becuase you know, smiles hit different when they’re authentic.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I realized i wanted to start a business, I had just had my 3rd baby. At that time, my kids were 4 years, 2 years and 2 months. I immediately felt overwhelmed to a point of panic. It was in these moments of panic that I had to dig deep to set myself up for success. It has been quite the journey. I say HAS because we’re still learning and growing every day. I have learned so much about how to manage my time as myself, a wife, a mother and a business owner.
I finally understand the saying “there are only so many hours in a day…”
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started using facebook and Instagram when they became a ‘thing’, like most people. When my husband contracted covid at the beginning of the pandemic, I had 3 very small children (ages 4 yrs, 2 yrs and 2 months) at the time. I was dumbfounded with how I was going to survive for 2 whole weeks; ZERO HELP. How was I going to keep myself SANE and laughing? Instagram stories!! Afterall, if ‘they’ can do ‘it’, why can’t I? The fire was officially lit. The outstanding support from the community and the laughs we were all having were what showed me just how powerful these platforms are.
I don’t think there is are a ‘perfect’ algorithm… There are a few tips & tricks I’ve learned along the way that help.
What I tell myself is ‘Do Your Best & Forget The Rest.’
As long as you’re striving to put your best foot forward, you can’t go wrong.
