We recently connected with Matthew Ten and have shared our conversation below.
Matthew , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Aces Domain is a Clothing Brand that promotes creativity and self improvement with inspiration from Art and Anime. I always try my best to show within each project, within each Piece, a message to give to others and the message is to “keep being yourself but become the best version of yourself.” Ive always been a Huge Anime and Pop Culture fan, along with being a huge nerd, but all of that inspiration plays a part to what I want to show and continue telling people within the Brand. You are your own main character in your own story, you just have to believe that you are. It’s a simple but childish goal but I truly want to continue to show and help others become the best version of themselves with my art. You deserve to become who you dream to be.
I always feel like there’s a person that needs some motivation or needs guidance to who they want to be and who they want to shape themselves to be so, I want to make sure that I can motivate and inspire people to become and continue to be who they dream to be.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My Name is Matthew Ten, I’m the Owner of Aces Domain; an Artistic and Anime Streetwear brand.
I first got into the Clothing Industry by being inspired by other clothing brands that were starting around my area. Another inspiration of mine when I first started out was the creativity of bigger brands like Supreme, Off White, Bape, Soleboy, Hypland and etc. Back when I first started, I wanted to show a message to others that you are 1 of 1, but I didn’t really know how to do it.
Im a really big anime and pop culture nerd, I grew up watching Ultraman and Kamen Rider (2 Amazing Japanese shows) that my dad had introduced to me when I was a little kid. He is a huge Star Wars fan as well, so I grew up on that too. But as I grew up in middle school, I started to be a really big sneaker head and the result after that was me being in love with dressing up in high school. Even if the fit wasn’t good at all, I would still love to wear it just because of the creativity that was put into it. After I graduated high school, I was lost in what I wanted to do. Id admit I was in the wrong crowd, wrong mentality for about 1 1/2 years. it was only when I was in a deep predicament was when I needed to change. that’s when I started Aces Domain.
When I first started out, I made pieces that represent how a person felt or a emotion, for example, I had created a tee called “Mind of a Heart” and It represented both the mind and heart functioning as one to represent creativity itself. My first tee was called the “Joker” tee and it represents a person as a “Jack of all trades”. Those were the first pieces I made when I first started out. As time went forward, I started to implement a lot of Anime Inspiration into my clothing until I finally dropped my 1st official anime collection: The One Piece Collection. This one was a real enjoyment making, at the time of making this collection, I had officially rebranded my brand into the message I wanted to give to others and what more than implement one of the most inspiring anime characters.
I want to continue telling to my followers, and potential clients to continue chasing your dream and to become the best version of yourself.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
So, currently I work at a Home Depot, where i’ve been working part time for a while now. A major portion of my paycheck goes towards my business and I have been currently improving on how I invest my money into my brand. As I invested, it was just more of turning the money I invested into the brand into assets that would help me improve my business. But mostly, it was money from my paycheck that was the initial capital. After that, it’s just balancing the capital into what you need to do for my business.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I remember 2 years ago, I had just released my first ever set; Cold Hearted Set. I was trying to promote the set but I didn’t truly have a really good plan on how to get my clothing out to the people. I had realized that you can’t reach the goals you dream to reach if you aren’t consistent with what you do. When I realized that, I had discontinued the set and the Mind of the Heart tee because I felt like I couldn’t figure out a way to promote them. I had to take time to myself to assess what I wanted to do and how to do it. I think a lot of self motivation and adaptation helped me pivot to where I am now.
