We recently connected with Matthew Skillz and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Matthew , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
So during the pandemic I had just got home from tour with Jamila Woods . That is when the world received the announcement of the “coronavirus pandemic “. At the time I was at my friend / good brother Nate’s house and we were talking about the industry and club politics. We thought “why pay a lot of money to get in a club , pay for expensive drinks , wear uncomfortable clothes and worst hear terrible music . We thought you could do that at the home . That is when Club Crib was born .. With this logic we realized nobody wants to be put in these predicaments. To make our own music that feels good , to curating dope shows and events , not to mention to create an atmosphere that is inviting and super comfortable.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
So “Club Crib ent” is a multi faceted group that delivers a few services. From music production, mix and mastering, live entertainment to Photography.. when people hear our name, we want people to know this a vibe worth checking out . EVERYTIME!. Most groups and businesses usually lack one thing . “Hospitality”.. that is where I believe we are different

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my business partner Nate (@thatdoodnate) back in college . I started playing bass in 2009. We formed a band called HD . He played guitar. We did a lot of shows together. Traveled a bit too. It crazy because we were always hanging out partying but we need made beats together. It took us 10 years to realize that. The moment we collaborated, the rest was history

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
So the way we built our audience originally started from putting a single out . The name of our single was entitled “Cheers”. It was a lo-fi instrumental beat . So with that moving forward , we created a challenge. It was named the “Cheers Challenge”.. there was alot of traffic with that .. as months moved on we started putting out more music and started putting on shows !
