We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Matthew Noel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Matthew below.
Alright, Matthew thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Working in photography takes a large amount of dedication and focus to make sure you provide your clients the best possible memories and services that you can. With there being no shortage of photographers and cellphone cameras as advanced as they are now, It definitely takes a lot of hard work to work in the profession.

Matthew, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Matthew Noel. Photographer and Owner of Matthew Noel Photography.
I discovered a love of all things photography later in life after my father, who had been a professional photographer for many years, passed away. I began doing landscape photography with his equipment to maintain a connection with him. I absolutely love nature and landscape photography when I am not photographing clients. I Left my full-time job as a paramedic in 2021 and made the jump to being a full-time photographer and started my business. I am based in the Twin Cities and north metro area of Minnesota.
Now I approach every photograph and every session with the hopes of capturing the perfect memories for people and their family. I work to make every photograph show the emotion and detail of the moment. I strive to make every photograph tell a story.
I specialize in portraits of individuals, families, school seniors and professionals, as well as event photography. I absolutely enjoy working with all ages. It’s all about creating the best possible memory through photography.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the biggest reward is seeing the look on a clients face when I present them with the finished photos from their session. I always strive to make every photo, either personal of professional, tell a story and capture a memory. I love when people tell me how a photo of mine that they have viewed made them feel. It is so enlightening and surreal when someone comes up or messages me and says ” I remember years ago standing in the same spot that your photo was taken” and then they share a story. Those are the moments I work for every day.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
There are so many resources that I have gained throughout the process of building my business. I would have to say, the biggest though, is the other photographers and creatives that I have had the chance to meet and work with. There is a never ending amount of knowledge and information available from other professionals. All it takes is conversation and an open mind.
