We recently connected with Matthew Garcia and have shared our conversation below.
Matthew, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Talk to us about building your team? What was it like? What were some of the key challenges and what was your process like?
I started my IT company in 2014, initially focusing on computer repair. In 2016, I hired my first employee after placing an ad and finding a tech-savvy individual eager to learn more about technology—a perfect fit for our team! Over the past seven years, I have learned that delegation is essential for growth, and it remains my biggest challenge. Currently, we have three people in the office handling day-to-day tasks, and we are planning to continue delegating responsibilities and hiring more staff to support our growth.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started fixing computers around 2009 for my mom’s friends, initially just looking to help them out and make a few extra bucks to buy video games. After about a year, I realized that this hobby could become a business. I worked daily on creating advertising materials, researching tech tools, and building a basic website.
Our main service is consulting with clients on various IT needs. For example, if someone needs an 8-year-old computer fixed, we assess whether it would be more beneficial to upgrade to a new one. This consultative approach has allowed us to expand into the corporate sector, where we are now equipped to handle business IT needs.
As of 2024, we offer packages that enable us to monitor clients’ company security and brand across all IT avenues. Our primary goal is to let business owners focus on their craft while we take care of their IT needs.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I started this company fresh out of high school, building it from the ground up. I remember working my part-time job from 9 AM to 2 PM every day, then heading to the office from 2 PM to 10 PM to work on computers. I saved as much money from the business as possible to move into newer office spaces with more room, better client access, and separate rooms for security and privacy. My mom has been a tremendous help, listening to my game plan daily and supporting the growth of the company. Together, we are working towards making a game-changing impact for our clients in the area.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
We have an amazing reputation in our local market. We strive to handle every task and client as if it’s our own. Our clients are very happy with the in-depth process and quality of work we provide, and they are more than happy to recommend us to their friends.
