We recently connected with Matthew Dittman and have shared our conversation below.
Matthew, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Kelly and I are Co-Owners of Magnify Coffee Catering, and have always had a heart for hospitality and amazing food. We have enjoyed the privilege of working in a coffeehouse together and providing catering for various organizations. Being the owners of a family operated business, we are dedicated to and passionate about our customers. Our decision on “Magnify” as the name of the business is two-fold: the desire to elevate each event we get the opportunity to be involved in and to magnify the Name of the Lord and His Goodness by following Jesus’ example of Loving and Serving.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
Kelly and I met at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. She had just completed her Master’s in Conducting and would come to campus to practice after teaching, while I was working on my Bachelor’s in Music Education. A few years later, we hit it off.
After getting married in 2011, we often dreamed of working together, envisioning a retreat we would build side by side. But as teachers, we couldn’t quite figure out how to make that dream a reality. We eventually realized that the opportunity to work together wasn’t just going to fall into our laps. By the fall of 2022, we had grown tired of only seeing each other in the evenings and on weekends. We felt strongly that God had brought us together for something greater than just our relationship. So, we took a leap of faith into the event and hospitality industry, choosing to specialize in coffee and beverage catering.
Working with your spouse is both an incredible blessing and a challenge. Our shared vision and aligned goals make us a strong team, while our unique strengths complement each other in the best ways. Even when the journey pushes me to my limits, I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
When we first started Magnify, Kelly was in her final semester of teaching, and I was building custom cabinetry. The only mindset we could embrace was that Magnify had to work. We invested financially, countless hours, and were 100% dedicated to bring it to life.
Now, nearly two years and almost 300 events later, we’ve grown to four carts and an absolutely incredible team—and we’re just getting started!
We’ve learned so much along the way, constantly evolving and refining our craft. But no matter how much we grow, our priorities remain the same: exceptional drinks, outstanding service, an unforgettable guest experience, and a commitment to integrity and transparency.
