We were lucky to catch up with Matthew Clark recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Matthew, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I think, as with most creative people, it’s an organic process that’s kind of always been there. Does that make sense? The roots of creativity you’re born with, so I feel like I have morphed into the creative soul I am today. I do wish I spent more time prepping for a lot of the projects I did when I was younger, but it’s a learning process.

Matthew, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started out writing little comedy skits and sketches back when I lived in Philadelphia. After I moved to Los Angeles in 2009, it became full-time. I try and write every day, even if I know some of the material will never be used. I have a huge backlog of comedy sketches I’d like to film, so I try to be more selective with what I produce now.
We have been doing The Podcastle since 2015, and it’s really taking off. The Podcastle is the podcast I started with two of my best friends, and it’s morphed into a really solid show which I am grateful for. We’ve had actors, environmentalists, politicos, authors, etc. on the show. I feel very blessed.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A story I like to tell is how I moved to Los Angeles. I came out here in 2009, during the height of the recession, with no job, no prospects, and $2,400. In a month I was able to get a job, a car, and move into a house. The point is- California still is a land of opportunity. I may not be happy with a lot of the way it’s run, but there still is some great options here if you know where to look.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I don’t know much about NFTs, and neither do you. It’s funny money. Stick with mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and savings.
