Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to MATTHEW CHEONG. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
MATTHEW, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
We are seeing an unprecedented hike in debt due to inflation, “greedflation” as well as the prime rates skyrocketing to rates back in the 70’s. And all banks are now trying to find a way to balance their interest rates on all products to try and maintain customer satisfaction and their profits. And consumers or businesses are struggling to navigate through all the uncertainty banks are putting them into. With this overall economy we are actively outreaching to customers to offer help in-terms of debt consolidation, financial planning and so on to try and reduce the affects of the overall economy.
MATTHEW, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am originally from Malaysia, of Chinese descendant and migrated here to the US 5 years ago. Since then I have been navigating thru the Real Estate industry and in 2022 I joined M&T Bank and have truly found my calling. I love what I do and what I’m able to do for people by offering advice and guidance that I never thought I could!
Here at M&T we are a community driven bank whereby the sales comes second and customer comes first. After joining M&T I was able to give back to the local community, support my ethnic group in ways I could not as an individual and also empower small businesses by being able to offer financial assistance and other guidance!
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth marketing AKA Referrals are always the best way to grow your clientele. over 90% of my business comes from existing clients and people who know, like and trust me.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Always remember what is the value of your brand. Your brand IS YOU!. People buy from people not companies. Show sincerity, show respect and show integrity and customers will stick with you!
Best way to keep in touch is definitely a good old fashioned phone call. Emails and texts are great but not as impactful as a phone call or even a hand written note/letter.
