Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Matt Workman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Matt, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
100% it’s all about social networking. You don’t even need to be great at what you do or what you represent. If you’re great at talking to people and making relationships, then you will grow and become stronger and more profitable. To me this is the number 1 thing every single person needs to learn. I know many creators who are amazing but can’t land a gig or learn how to upsell or how to sell their services. I know creators who are just starting but have 10-20 clients lined up wanting their services when I know for a fact many others would provide better work.
This is why I believe we are successful because we create relationships but we also provide amazing service as well.

Matt, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Since I was a kid I loved music. I would film my own music videos and create funny content. I went to college graduating with a Masters in Marketing/social media content and realized I hated working for people. 3 years ago I ran into “Daniel Castillo” who is now my business partner to this day. He’s a professional dancer who needed video content of him and I needed someone to film me and my music. We began filming for one another and people began loving our work and asking for our services. We both started shooting as a team for various events and shows and began making a name for ourselves.
We realized in 1 day of filming I made 3 days worth of what I would have made at my old job. There was definitely something here. We decided to make a company and target the content world helping others. Daniel has amassed over 60,000 followers targeting dance creators as my music has amassed over 200,000 followers on YouTube.
Our following for our personal lives helps us find clients professionally and we have now started branding new accounts such as our company and personal videography wise everywhere.
3 years later to present day we have created commercials for TV, podcasts for big entrepreneurs, promo ads and events throughout all of central Florida, and so much more. We offer more than just video services, we ensure you get multiple vertical videos out of 1 video, we ensure you get results if you need views, or even sales.
We sit down with our clients asking what the results they are looking for and we educate on how to obtain that.
Yes we may not have a certain niche but we target all realms of creativity to ensure we help central Florida on growing. We now do all the events of Orlando Weekly, and even help various restaurants make amazing content to help promote their establishment.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Yes we care a lot about social media but our best clients come from marketing or really good networking at higher end events.
Having a huge following does not mean you are making money, or have amazing clients. Half the time it means the opposite.
I’d say Craigslist, yelp, and google ads have been our best way of finding high end clients.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Most will never understand what it means to be able to successfully be able to work for yourself. It’s very hard to imagine. You have to train your mind at understanding that you will never know what you actually can make each month. You have to work harder than anyone else by learning every side of the business.
Leaving the 9-5 or just working for someone else can be very stressful, but if you can learn and grow to handle more stress that means you will make more profit and begin to grow more. It all depends on how much do you want to grow or handle and to still have a social life to enjoy. Balance is very hard in the beginning stages. I gave up my life for the first year or 2 and now we are very established and have a name for ourselves.
