We were lucky to catch up with Matt Woodfill recently and have shared our conversation below.
Matt, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
We’ve all heard the saying, “No risk, no reward,” and there’s a lot of truth in it, often requiring us to rely on our faith. As the Bible tells us, “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Frequently, we find ourselves paralyzed by the fear of taking risks because we focus on what we lack rather than leveraging what we have.
In Matthew 20:29-34, there’s a story about two blind men who, despite their lack of sight, used their other abilities—hearing, walking, and shouting—to reach out to Jesus and change their situation. Their story teaches us that we’re only truly stuck if we stop trying. So, keep using the resources you have, take bold steps, and trust in faith as you move forward.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The inspiration behind starting The Way Church comes from Isaiah 43:18-19: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” This passage speaks of how the Lord will create “THE WAY IN YOUR WILDERNESS,” which is the foundational vision for The Way Church.
Our vision is clear: we aim to LEAD all people to Jesus Christ, EMPOWER them through the Holy Spirit to GROW, and SERVE both in the local church and within the Kingdom of God. As Pastor Matt Woodfill of The Way Church puts it, “One word from God, when acted upon in faith, has the power to transform your life forever.”
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
We believe that the church plays a crucial role in our community, much like a hospital offers physical healing. The church serves as a place for spiritual restoration. While no church is perfect, we serve a perfect Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At The Way Church, we are privileged to minister to individuals and families, dedicated to our vision of “making the WAY in the wilderness.”
Our mission is to ensure that every soul at The Way Church understands that people are not a problem but our purpose. Although this journey can be challenging, sticking to our vision and purpose is immensely rewarding.
We want to clearly communicate to our community that EVERYONE is WELCOME at THE WAY CHURCH, regardless of age, race, or socioeconomic status. When you visit us, our goal is to make you feel loved and at home.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I would like to invite you to join us at The Way Church in The Woodlands, Texas, either on Sunday at 11 a.m. or Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. We all need community and friendship, and I truly believe there’s no better place than The Way Church, where we have a loving, Biblical community made up of wonderful families.
As we often say, “Give us a year of your life through faithful attendance at The Way Church, and we guarantee you’ll look back on that year and see positive spiritual growth.”
One of the exciting aspects of The Way Church is our range of ministries designed for the entire family. Among them is the WayKidz ministry, which nurtures the next generation on Sundays and Wednesdays. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it.” At The Way Church, we truly believe in this principle—“We count the KIDS because the KIDS count.”
