We were lucky to catch up with Matt Robb recently and have shared our conversation below.
Matt, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I’m a content creator from the UK, and for the longest time, I felt like the most successful people were in North America. There seemed to be more opportunities in Canada and the US, not just to make money, but to live a better lifestyle. One day, I decided to take a leap of faith—I applied for residency in Canada, packed my bags, and made the move. I had never been to Canada before, knew no one, and had no idea where I would live or how things would turn out. But I was ready for personal development and new opportunities, despite the fear that came with such a big change.
I reached out to a fellow creator named Villy, who I’d never met, and he offered to pick me up from the airport. It was a risk—I had no idea if he was genuine—but sometimes you have to take a leap and trust it’ll pay off. Thankfully, Villy turned out to be an incredible new friend. He introduced me to other content creators, and even suggested a place where I could stay temporarily. I ended up living there for two months.
During that time, I got an offer from MSI Canada to showcase a desktop gaming PC and a new curved gaming monitor on my channel. Of course, I said yes, even though filming in a new space with half my equipment missing was challenging. On top of that, I was spending most days sorting out documents, getting my driver’s license, and applying for my social insurance number. But I pushed through and made the video, and now I’m working on several more projects with MSI.
Soon after, I was contacted by Google, inviting me to attend their Pixel 9 unveiling in downtown Toronto. The moment I received that email, I realized I’d achieved more in two weeks in Canada than I had during all my time in the UK as a content creator. Here, companies actively reach out to creators, invite them to events, build personal connections, and pay significantly more for sponsored content. At the Google event, I even met some of the famous content creators I grew up watching, like Dave2D, Matti Haapoja, and Cannoopsy.
Taking the risk to step outside my comfort zone really paid off. I’ve networked, built my brand, and secured numerous new deals. My YouTube views have also spiked, driven by interest in my new lifestyle. If there’s something you want to do in life, break it down into smaller, achievable goals and tackle them one by one. Keep pushing, even when things get tough. Slow motion is better than no motion, so keep moving forward. Believe in yourself, and eventually, you’ll get there.

Matt, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
**About Me:**
I’m Matt Robb, a content creator and marketing professional originally from the UK. My journey into the world of digital media began with a deep passion for technology, creativity, and storytelling. I hold a master’s degree in Digital Social Media Marketing and an undergraduate degree in Computing, which have both equipped me with a solid foundation in both the technical and creative aspects of content creation.
I’ve always been fascinated by the power of digital media to connect people across the globe, and this led me to start my YouTube channel, the *Matt Robb YouTube Channel*, where I create engaging content that resonates with audiences worldwide. My channel has grown to 60K subscribers across 100+ countries, a milestone that I’m incredibly proud of. Through my content, I share insights, reviews, and tutorials on tech, gaming, and lifestyle, always aiming to educate, entertain, and inspire.
**Getting Into the Industry:**
My entry into the content creation industry was driven by a genuine love for technology and a desire to share that passion with others. I started by creating tech reviews and tutorials, and over time, I honed my skills in videography, photography, and digital marketing. Moving to Canada was a pivotal moment in my career. The decision to relocate was driven by a belief that North America, particularly Canada, offered more opportunities for growth and success in this industry. It was a bold move, but it paid off immensely.
**Services and Creative Works:**
Through my company, *MTRB Studios*, I offer a wide range of services including photography, videography, and marketing solutions. I specialize in creating high-quality visual content for brands, whether it’s through promotional videos, product showcases, or social media campaigns. My work is tailored to meet the specific needs of each client, whether they’re looking to boost their online presence, engage their audience, or launch a new product. I also continue to produce content for my YouTube channel, where I review the latest tech products, provide insights into the industry, and share my experiences as a content creator.
**What Sets Me Apart:**
What sets me apart in the industry is a combination of technical expertise, creative vision, and a relentless drive to push boundaries. My background in both computing and digital marketing allows me to approach projects from a unique perspective, blending creativity with technical precision. Additionally, my experience growing a YouTube channel from scratch to an international audience gives me a deep understanding of what it takes to create content that not only looks great but also resonates with viewers.
I’m most proud of my ability to adapt and thrive in new environments. Moving to Canada with no prior connections and quickly establishing myself in the industry is a testament to my resilience and dedication. I’m also proud of the community I’ve built around my content—engaging with viewers, collaborating with other creators, and continuously evolving my work to meet the changing demands of the industry.
**Key Messages for Potential Clients and Followers:**
For potential clients, my message is simple: I’m here to help you tell your story in the most compelling way possible. Whether you need a stunning visual campaign, an engaging product video, or strategic marketing advice, I’m committed to delivering results that exceed your expectations. My approach is collaborative, transparent, and always focused on your goals.
For my followers and fans, I want you to know that your support means everything to me. My journey has been shaped by your feedback, encouragement, and engagement. I’m dedicated to continuing to create content that inspires, educates, and entertains you. My move to Canada has opened up exciting new opportunities, and I can’t wait to share the next chapter with you all.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my view, society can best support artists and creatives by recognizing that we’re people just like everyone else, with the same need for stability and respect. Providing financial support, like grants and funding, is crucial so we can focus on our craft without the constant pressure of financial uncertainty. Education should emphasize creativity alongside other subjects, and there should be more opportunities for learning and collaboration within the creative community. Finally, society needs to value creative work not just as entertainment, but as a vital part of our culture and identity. When this happens, a thriving creative ecosystem naturally follows.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the impact I can have on people’s lives. When someone recognizes me in public and tells me that my content helped them choose the right tech or made their day a bit better, it really hits home. It’s those moments when I realize that what I do isn’t just about creating videos or taking photos—it’s about connecting with people, sharing knowledge, and genuinely making a difference in their decisions and daily lives. That’s what makes all the hard work worth it.
