We were lucky to catch up with Matt Palmquist recently and have shared our conversation below.
Matt, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
What I would tell my 20 year old self knowing what my 44 year old self knows now, is a great question! I would seek out mentors immediately! Like-minded individuals who are or were in the industry to help expedite knowledge! I didn’t know what I didn’t know! I so desperately wanted to be successful but had no idea how to. I would highly recommend identifying those mentors quickly, and when you do, listen! Stressing the importance of listening is essential to success. You will start to expand your network, learning the ‘language’ of the industry, but not only that, you will start to learn how the industry operates! Listening costs absolutely nothing except time. But from paying attention, you will actually save yourself time and headaches.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I have been in the digital marketing and public relations space since 2015. I started my own boutique firm in 2016 and have been helping clients achieve their campaign goals since day one! We work with clients on website development, social media strategy and reputation management. Our PR side, helps with clients with crisis management in time of an emergency, to also achieving exposure in media platforms.
There is a synergy with all the services we provide our clients. The ultimate goal is for the client to achieve their desired outcome when hiring our firm. Their success means everything!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Hard work. Showing up everyday. But, most importantly, answering the phone when the client calls. Regardless if you know that it won’t be a “good” call due to their displeasure at the moment… answer the phone. Due this everyday on repeat, and you will start to carve out a piece of success.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source for us has been referrals. Our work speaks for itself, the client sees this and eventually they tend to share their success stories with friends.
