Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We have implemented a few different strategies for connecting with clients after the sale and to foster a culture around our product. The first is simply following up after the sale to check in and see how customers are getting along with their new product. This has given us great feedback about things that we may not have explained well enough and ensure we can answer their questions before those items become a sore point. Another thing we have recently implemented is customer events and open houses. We plan to host several customer events a year that will allow our clients to connect with each other but also allow us to connect more with each one of them. Since our product focuses on outdoor recreation, we will be hosting 4 events per year, one for each season, in which we will have a destination event where current owners, dreamers, and DIY van builders can come and meet up.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
For me, one of the most transformative books was “The Toyota Way” by Jeffrey Liker. This book focuses on management practices developed within Toyota. He discusses how those practices have helped transform the company and takeaways that can be used within every company. One of the lessons that we have tried to implement most is the idea of miniscule and constant improvement. We utilize a practice known as 3S or, Sweep, Sort, and Standardize. The entire company partakes by spending 30 minutes every morning to 3S. The purpose of this practice is to find problems and fix them. It can be as minor as sorting mail, or as involved as maintaining critical equipment. In spending this time though, you may find an overdue invoice, a broken component, a bad seal on a door, missing inventory, etc. By simply spending the time to clean an area and organize, items that may have gone unnoticed for months are brought to the surface so they can be rectified and improved.
