We were lucky to catch up with Matt Miranda recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Matt, thanks for joining us today. What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you in your professional career?
The most important lesson I learned from an old job that has helped me as a business owner came from working at a restaurant. In my early 20’s, I really didn’t know what I wanted to do. I took time off from college and worked full-time at a restaurant in Houston, TX, called Carrabba’s. The cool thing about this is that our family used to go to the restaurant basically every week for dinner. You could say I grew up in the restaurant.
Working at the restaurant, we would see the owner pretty often. He would come to our location, and we would do these huddle-ups before the shifts started. I would always get fired up whenever he talked and took so many lessons from him. The biggest one that has stuck with me to this day is how to have “a genuine concern for the customer.” It seems like a no-brainer, right? But how many people do you see just work at a job and have zero concern for customers?
I always tell our clients that I am their business partner, just without the official title. I am as invested in their company and the success of the company as they are. The genuine concern for our customers has served us well because, without our customers, we are nothing.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I got into the marketing industry for drug and alcohol rehabs because of my recovery journey. I should have gone to detox and treatment but never did. I lost 21lbs in 21 days because no one really knew who or where to turn to for help. That’s the whole idea behind Red Cardinal Digital Marketing. We help rehabs reach those people that need the help ethically.
Our company provides clients with fully custom-built websites, SEO, PPC, and Facebook ads. We solve the problem of centers not reaching enough people that need treatment.
I truly believe what sets Red Cardinal apart from our competitors is our genuine concern for our customers. We take pride in putting our clients in the best possible position to succeed.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
By building relationships. People want to do business with people they know, like, and trust. It’s a simple process. Do a great job for a client and build that relationship; the rest will fall into place.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Business coaches. You don’t know what you don’t know, and a coach can help you save years of mistakes.
