We were lucky to catch up with Matt Fulcher recently and have shared our conversation below.
Matt, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
The origins of Sunrise Multimedia trace back to my middle school days, a time when the seeds of curiosity were sown. In the sixth grade, I found myself enrolled in a TV Production class, where a camera became my gateway to a world of creativity. The routine took an unexpected turn when I was chosen for the morning announcements, delivering weather updates and school news. It was during these moments that a genuine fondness for production began to take root.
A decade later, life led me to a role as a Sales Associate at Brookestone, a tech haven boasting luxury electronics. Here, the allure of the drone took center stage. Demonstrating its capabilities became a daily routine, a tactic to lure passerby’s from the mall into our high-tech realm.
Then came a pivotal Black Friday one year later, marked by a sale on a DJI Phantom 3 Drone. In a jesting push from my father, I found myself acquiring the drone, unknowingly stepping into a new chapter. Armed with this aerial companion, my daily routine shifted into an exploration of the scenic corners of Vero Beach. The compelling footage, carefully crafted into a video, offered a glimpse into the unfiltered natural beauty that defined our town.
Unexpectedly, within a mere seven days, the video resonated with viewers, amassing an impressive 100,000 views. This unforeseen surge in attention hinted at possibilities beyond my imagination, sparking the realization that something greater was on the horizon.
And so, from middle school curiosity to a tech retail gig and an unexpected drone purchase, Sunrise Multimedia emerged as a testament to the unpredictable journey of passion and creativity. The simple joy of exploring with a camera in hand had grown into a multimedia venture, capturing the essence of unexpected opportunities that shape our stories.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Amid the uncertainties of the COVID era, Sunrise Multimedia faced its share of challenges. The landscape was shifting, economies were closing down, and a pervasive sense of uncertainty gripped everyone confined to their homes. During this period, the wedding industry came to an abrupt halt, and many clients seeking ongoing marketing videos had cut their marketing budgets.
However, amidst the turbulence, a silver lining emerged. Real Estate, surprisingly, remained resilient. Recognizing this trend, I made a pivotal decision to pivot towards offering Real Estate Media services. This strategic move turned out to be one of the most impactful decisions for the company. By aligning our services with an essential industry, we found ourselves in high demand.
Real estate transactions couldn’t proceed without compelling photography, making our services indispensable. Consequently, we experienced a surge in business, proving to be not just busy but remarkably fortunate during a challenging time. This shift not only helped us navigate the uncertainties but also positioned Sunrise Multimedia as an essential service provider in the real estate sector.
Any advice for managing a team?
Employee morale is a cornerstone in effective team management, and I consider it a crucial aspect to continually understand and monitor. It’s not uncommon for many companies to grapple with this, resulting in high turnover rates. Personally, I diverge from the traditional approach of morale-boosting, such as the classic Pizza Party.
In my view, establishing open lines of communication is paramount. Regularly engaging with the team, understanding their individual goals, and acknowledging their achievements contribute significantly to fostering a positive work environment. As a leader, cultivating kindness and fairness is essential.
When the business thrives, I take proactive steps beyond verbal recognition. This includes organizing team vacations, providing bonuses during holidays, and actively listening to their ideas. I firmly believe that when team members feel heard and well-supported, they reciprocate with dedication and commitment to the success of both the individual and the company as a whole.
