We recently connected with Matt Chiaravalle and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Matt, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Probably at around the age of 10. As soon I understood the concept of how the records I was hearing on the radio were made, I knew I wanted to be a part of that.
Matt, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a music producer/engineer/musician and occasional songwriter. I work with artists and bands to bring their ideas to life in the studio. Lately I’ve been doing some scoring and mixing for documentaries and films which I really enjoy. I am also sometimes hired just to mix a song or project.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I don’t know if there is a particular goal but I really enjoy the process of record making from beginning to end. It’s extremely rewarding to take what starts out as melody line, lyric or chord progression and turn it into a full blown production.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think non-creatives might struggle to understand the literal need for artists to be creative. I don’t do this for money, accolades or recognition, I do it because I need to, it’s who I am. I would bet most creative people feel a similar way.
