We were lucky to catch up with Matt Boden recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Matt thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful in any business is to make sure you are fully engaged. Being fully engaged with your employees and being fully engaged with your clients will always lead to success. I think the moment you don’t feel the pulse of your company anymore, the harder it is to stay engaged. I know this because as you grow and scale your business it becomes harder and harder to stay this was with more people taking on more responsibilities. As we have grown and seen more success, it truly takes more effort to stay in touch with both clients and employees. I make it a point to everyday make some conversation with both to never lose focus of why I started this company. Making my employees succeed will always make my company succeed.
Matt , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started out my company out of a desire to be with my family more. I spent 20 years in the hospitality industry owning and operating restaurants. After my dad passed away I knew that something had to change in my life because I had already missed so many holidays and birthdays. I set out to create a better lifestyle for my family and invested in Fresh Coat Painters. I had always painted as a hobby, so I wanted to see about making it my new career. I brought my hospitality background into this business to make sure the clients were taken care of in a way that this industry doesn’t have a reputation for. Bringing the mentality of hospitality into every clients home has been a major success. The clients know we will go above and beyond to make them happy, much like you do in the restaurant industry.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Showing our clients and employees that they come first. Taking care of them will always take of our business.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Keeping the best interests of your employees when making decisions will always be important. As long as it doesn’t negatively impact the business then they will always be important in the decision making process.
