We recently connected with Mathieu Cabot and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mathieu thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on has to be the “Horses of Camargue” series. It began as a simple fascination with the wild white horses of the Camargue region in southern France, but it quickly evolved into something much deeper. These horses are emblematic of freedom and the untamed beauty of nature, living in a delicate balance with their environment.
I spent weeks immersed in the wetlands, observing and photographing these majestic creatures. The experience was humbling and transformative, not just artistically, but personally. It was a stark reminder of the fragility of nature and our responsibility to protect it. Capturing the essence of these horses in black and white allowed me to highlight their grace and strength, while also drawing attention to the conservation efforts needed to preserve their habitat.
This project is meaningful to me because it transcends art—it’s a call to action for wildlife conservation. The positive response from viewers who felt a connection to the horses and the cause has been incredibly rewarding. It reinforced my belief in the power of art to inspire change and foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

Mathieu, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Certainly! I’m Mathieu Cabot, a wildlife conservation artist dedicated to blending the raw beauty of the wild with the urban landscapes we live in. My journey into this unique niche began with a lifelong passion for both photography and nature. Growing up, I was always fascinated by the intricate details of the natural world and how they contrast with the man-made environments around us. This curiosity led me to explore ways to merge these two worlds through art.
My work primarily focuses on creating evocative black and white art prints that capture the essence of wildlife in urban settings. By emphasizing the stark contrasts and harmonious interactions between these elements, I aim to tell compelling stories that resonate with viewers on an emotional level. Each piece I create is designed to be more than just a visual experience; it’s a call to action for wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship.
What sets my work apart is the narrative depth and emotional engagement I strive to achieve in every piece. By focusing on the interplay between wildlife and urban environments, I highlight the beauty and fragility of our natural world, urging viewers to consider their role in its preservation. My recent series, such as “BIG CATS | BIG CITY,” exemplifies this approach, showcasing the majestic wild cats (lions, tigers, etc) in their natural habitat, and juxtaposed against the encroaching elements of human development.
I’m most proud of the impact my art has had in raising awareness and inspiring change. Hearing from viewers who feel moved to support conservation efforts or who gain a newfound appreciation for nature through my work is incredibly rewarding. It’s a testament to the power of art in fostering a deeper connection to the world around us.
For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want you to know that my brand is built on a foundation of passion, authenticity, and a deep commitment to the environment. Each print is crafted with care, aiming to evoke emotion and provoke thought. Whether you’re looking to enhance your space with meaningful art or support a cause close to your heart, my work offers a unique blend of aesthetic beauty and purposeful storytelling.
In essence, my goal is to create art that not only decorates but also educates and motivates. By choosing my work, you’re not just acquiring a piece of art—you’re joining a movement towards a greater appreciation and protection of our planet’s precious wildlife.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely, there is a core mission driving my creative journey. As a wildlife conservation artist, my primary goal is to inspire a deeper connection between people and the natural world. I aim to raise awareness about the beauty and fragility of wildlife, particularly how it intersects with urban environments. Through my black and white art prints, I seek to tell compelling stories that evoke emotion and provoke thought, urging viewers to consider their role in preserving our planet’s biodiversity.
My mission is to create art that not only captivates the eye but also stirs the soul, encouraging a sense of responsibility and urgency towards conservation efforts. Each piece I produce is designed to be a visual testament to the majestic yet vulnerable creatures we share our world with, highlighting the importance of protecting their habitats. By doing so, I hope to foster a movement that values and actively works towards the preservation of our natural ecosystems.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Several key factors have helped me build my reputation within the market. First and foremost, my unwavering commitment to quality and authenticity in my work has resonated with audiences. By meticulously capturing the essence of wildlife and their interactions with urban environments, I’ve been able to create pieces that are not only visually striking but also deeply meaningful.
Another crucial factor has been my dedication to storytelling. Each art print is more than just an image; it’s a narrative that speaks to the beauty and fragility of the natural world. This approach has allowed me to connect with viewers on an emotional level, fostering a deeper appreciation for the subjects I portray and the conservation messages behind them.
Additionally, my proactive engagement with the conservation community has played a significant role. Collaborating with environmental organizations and participating in conservation initiatives have not only amplified the reach of my work but also reinforced my commitment to the cause. This has helped establish me as a credible and passionate advocate for wildlife conservation.
Finally, the support and feedback from my clients and followers have been invaluable. Their appreciation and enthusiasm for my art have fueled my drive to continuously improve and innovate. Through social media, exhibitions, and direct interactions, I’ve built a loyal community that shares my vision and supports my mission.
In summary, it’s been a combination of high-quality, authentic work, compelling storytelling, active involvement in conservation efforts, and strong community engagement that has helped me build my reputation within the market.
