Alright, Masha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
My family name is Titov, it’s a popular Russian surname. A fun fact about Russain surnames is that the women get an additional “a” at the end of the name. So my legal last name is Titova, while all the men in the family are Titov’s. I love the idea of having the male version be associated with a highly feminine product like lingerie, and the first three letters are “tit” which also felt very much like fate.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Masha Titov and I am the founder for lingerie brand TITOV. I started in the fashion industry 10 years ago, working at companies like Marc Jacobs, BCBGMaxazria and YEEZY. I created TITOV 3 years ago, while also getting my MBA during the pandemic. Today TITOV lingerie is a brand focused on celebrating everyday luxuries. We create undergarments fit for special occasions, but comfortable to wear every day. Creating small batch & limited edition drops to never get dull. We are for those looking for something different.

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
I was lucky enough to have started my career in design and production. I had for years done domestic and international production for many different companies. I was able to learn how to properly source fabrics, do quality control and really understand everything that could ever could wrong. For my own company I ran into new issues from manufacturers that would refuse to produce anything with a wire. This forced us to focus on wireless styles. It was not planned, but ended up being an amazing opportunity to really focus on a product that did have as much competition. We went fulling into the wireless styles and expanded into over 40+ sizes.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
This originally was just a creative outlet that I needed for my own soul. Being able to find fabrics that were beautiful and inspiring, while being able to draw and doodle, something I hadn’t done in years. It was a relaxing project, where I was able to decompress from stressful work days, by building a fantasy world with beautiful designs. With every passing evening of designing I would talk about it with friends and family (honestly anyone who would listen) and kept hearing that they also want the type of lingerie I was designing- Sexy, comfy and actually available in extended sizes. And with fate the pandemic did it’s thing, which was when I decided to start move back home and start TITOV full time. From that little side project, today we are now on the official New York Fashion Week Calendar, have over 10+ retail partners in the USA and landed our first Australian retailer!
