We recently connected with Marzi Montazeri and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marzi, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
This was a feeling inside that I chased not knowing really why other than the love for it. it was a calling for me to answer.. possibly walking by a music store and seeing a shiny red guitar perhaps pushed the emotions to higher levels but the calling was always there. I just answered it openly.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m an immigrant refugee kid that moved to America at a young age where not only the surroundings were new but also my life was about to change drastically due to my parents divorcing immediately after arriving, leaving me to be raised here in Houston, Texas, all alone without any parental guidance. I found my friends eventually and I found my love for rock music. Got my own first Guitar Guitar without any lessons or anyone around. I practiced for hours every day, searching for notes. Notes to soothe the pain that I had in my heart.. Playing guitar was not a popular thing with my dad, but I did it because I had to. It taught me about life as I was growing up, learning how to play this instrument . notes meant more. Music was a language that I could understand that my feelings and my emotions would have a bridge to my heart.. It was also a mirror. It was always truthful. It told me how good I was or how bad I was it never lied to me. It’s been the same since.. being able to learn how to play on my own, having my own style being unorthodox simply because not knowing how to do other stuff where people were getting lessons created way of living for me. It’s been my true friend throughout my life having a signature Guitar now and being able to give it back to the world means a lot to me.. Practicing is like prayer. It’s like meditation brings you back to your center to your core. It’s a beautiful place to be.. There’s highs and lows when one gets to feel emotions that can’t be just told to others. It’s something that one has to feel by him or herself. When this happens for me, be in my own room in a practice space in the studio or live on stage, is the most alive feeling one could ever have in life if you are to be a musician.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to be the best version of myself that I can be . I want to practice to write songs that are meaningful to me and speak to my heart and then to give it back to give it back to the people with nothing my love.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being open to everything and not attached to anything. Being in a space open to receive blessings from the universe and also being open to not be bombarded by the pains of the world, but to translate them into melodies and music..
