We were lucky to catch up with Marzena Trawinski recently and have shared our conversation below.
Marzena, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success is a huge achievement. It’s different for everyone as everyone’s goals and aspirations differ. To me, success means to be happy with your life, daily. It’s the beauty of finding within yourself what makes you happy and doing it. Working has never felt the same since I decided to become active and pro-active in my real estate career. It’s not a job or a paycheck, it’s satisfaction, dedication, motivation, innovation, hours of work, taste of failure and the ability to get up and keep moving forward. Being successful in real estate means growing, expanding beyond our comfort, and taking pride in the fact that we contributed towards someone else’s dream come true, or a major life change.
I moved my family to Atlanta in 2018. It wasn’t easy to start up in real estate while not knowing the areas, or processes involved in bringing a sale to the closing table. Everything was brand new and appeared HUGE. However, with time I learned to grow, to move forward and not overthink my decision. I just kept moving forward in the real estate world of Atlanta. 4 years later, I find myself to be not just a women owned small business, but a broker and a guide to other agents. It absolutely feels wonderful and that, I view as success!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I was born in Poland and moved to the United States at the age of 10. Most of my life was lived in New York, the city that never sleeps. I obtained my real estate license in 2009. while working a full-time job and completing my Degree in Business Management. I moved my family to Atlanta in 2018 for a better quality of life and lower cost of living. You can get so much for your money in Metro Atlanta! Since my move, I successfully renovated and flipped several properties throughout the Metro Atlanta area, became an investor by purchasing rental properties and am a co-owner and manager of an Airbnb property in Winder GA, https://airbnb.com/h/honeybeewinder.
I opened two full service real estate brokerages, Main Street Realty Group in Lawrenceville GA as well as a second brokerage, Endless Summer Realty Group in Orlando Florida. I now work as the real estate broker of these companies. Along the way, I enjoy building relationships with local businesses and communities. This contributes greatly to the success of my business. As a Broker, I feel a huge sense of responsibility towards my agents. We are a local small business and not a corporate brokerage by any means. I take pride in my client reviews, repeat referrals and community involvement.
I was ranked in the top 10% Top Producing real estate professional by the Atlanta Realtors Association two years in a row, along with Top 5 Gwinnett Agent and Top 10 agent in Georgia by Ratemyagent.com. I’m very grateful to also be a Finalist with the Gwinnett Chamber as a Small Business Emerging Entrepreneur and the Moxie Award Finalist. In 2022, I took upon myself a role of a volunteer on the Legal Committee for Georgia Association of Realtors.
To ensure that my clients receive the best service, I have a team of licensed real estate agents to assist in all real estate needs! I became a certified Broker Price Opinion specialist to accurately provide my clients with valuations for their real estate properties. I believe that what sets me apart as from others is my passion for compliance, teaching my agents how to remain self-sufficient in this industry and training them to be independent professionals. Achieving real estate goals is a true success, therefore, you can always count on Me, as well as my team, to deliver results! You can begin by visiting CALLMAINSTREET.COM to learn more.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When entrepreneurs lose their drive, it is a warning that the business may start to decline, almost immediately. Trouble is that most entrepreneurs lose their drive slowly over time. At that point, it becomes time to pivot. My time to pivot takes place each time the market shifts. With each market shift, I feel that it’s time to pivot and become innovative. A good way for this is to brainstorm with like-minded professionals. Wake up that motivation and determination based on fresh ideas and shifting your moves! Each market shift is a new challenge for real estate professionals. With each challenge, we must always turn to a new strategy!
After a very successful real estate market, spending countless hours driving from property to property and writing multiple offers each week, we are slowing down. Of course, buyers and sellers are always in need. Homes priced appropriately, marketed and shown will sell. Buyers that are pre-approved and have submitted all required documents to their lender are strong candidates. The real estate industry always teaches us something new. During the pandemic, large corporations, Ibuyers shut down! Not us! Not active, licensed Realtors who you can always count on to assist, advise and work with you towards your goals. That time was a great example for the public that they can always count on a local Realtor vs. online service companies which let them down by shutting down.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One major lesson I had to unlearn was doubting yourself and putting things aside for later! Before becoming a Broker and owner of both brokerages, there was doubt in me. I knew I had the dream and urge to own my own brokerage, however, I always put it aside for later. If I could go back in time, I’d tell myself to look in the mirror and face my doubts ASAP. It’s very important for those who want to excel and pursue their dreams to do it as soon as possible. Don’t wait on yourself. Don’t wait to invest in yourself. Know your ability to achieve by placing yourself out of your comfort zone. Surround yourself with a circle of people who motivate you, build up your confidence and who are already out there pursuing their own dreams! Failure is a part of growth, a part of success. Don’t be afraid to fail, as without failure you wouldn’t learn what you need to learn to grow. My favorite quote is “Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death”. I feel grateful and blessed to be where I am today. For allowing myself to pay attention to God’s guidance and always remaining humble while hustling hard! I’m also a true believer that what you put out there, will return back to you. I always turn to God first for his guidance, kindness towards others second and my circle for support and motivation third.
