We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Marylou Bustillos Rico a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Marylou , thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

Starting is the cornerstone of success. Waiting for the perfect moment only delays progress. The time to act is now. Recently, I’ve embraced this mindset, putting myself out there instead of passively waiting for opportunities to come my way. By taking proactive steps, I’ve opened doors and paved my own path. One thing I always say is if “I CAN DO IT SO CAN YOU.” All it takes is the willingness to initiate and the courage to take that first step towards your goals. The worst thing that’s going to happen is you get a no from someone or failure. You are already succeeding because you are willing to go for it instead of just dreaming.

Hola, Im Marylou Bustillos Rico a Latina lifestyle Content Creator who resides in Colorado. I share a bit of everything from beauty, fashion, motherhood, lifestyle, fitness and my self love healing journey.

Aiming to inspire others to chase their dreams. I always love to remind them that if I can do it so can they! Growing a community where we know there is room for everybody to win and that we can recreate ourselves.

I had severe postpartum depression and anxiety for years. 2023 I took charge of my life again and changed the game! This is your reminder to stop waiting for TOMORROW, for that prefect time, for that special thing. STOP waiting for a beautiful life…. go out and create it. You are the greatest project you will ever work on

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Back when social media first emerged, I experienced rapid growth without much thought behind my posts. I simply shared anything and everything I loved. However, times have changed, and now a strategic approach to posting is essential for growth. It’s become necessary to plan content and consider what resonates with followers. While I’ve been stuck at a certain follower count for some time, I’m eager to learn and grow more. It’s all part of the process.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The ability to express myself freely and authentically. Ya many people do create videos and take pictures but we are not all the same! What sets us apart is our unique expression. Even if we were to visit the same location, our end results would be distinct. I cherish the opportunity to share my creativity in this way.
