We recently connected with Marylin Muro and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marylin , thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Impact Visuals came from a lot of trial and errors. I came to the conclusion that my biggest mission in life is to make a positive impact in this world and leave the world a little better than I saw it. I took some time to figure out the best name because I want this name to be known at first glance.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Ever since I was young I always dreamt of owning some kind of a business and be my own boss. I chose film because I remember how much it impacted my thoughts and guided my dreams. Through film I learned to reach for the stars and keep fighting for what is right. Film has a beautiful impact on people’s lives no matter how big or small. I’ve had amazing opportunities to work with great people all over the U.S. I’ve worked on marketing projects big and small, from Fox News commercials to mom and pop shops to short films out of state. I am able to help businesses of all shapes and sizes with a load of the work. I take a different approach when it comes to the video business because instead of the one and done idea, I work with my clients for a longer period of time to really get to the bottom of any problem they may be facing. One of my proud moments was when working with a car company I was able to take them from a couple views and followers to hitting 15k views! After they let me do what I do best I was able to prove myself to them and after that I was able to attract the right clients to their business. What some people think to be impossible to achieve is made possible through Impact Visuals.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Impact Visuals was always part of my plans when I started school, my goal was to graduate with jobs in line and able to maintain a float as soon as I graduated. I looked around to many graduates and thought to myself that I didn’t want to graduate without the next step already in play. I began marketing and building my brand a year before I graduated for this to actually happen. I was attending business expos and marketing campaigns almost everyday for a couple of months to get to know people in my area from that I was able to get a lot of experience with a large variety of clients. As time went on I began to pick and choose the video style and Moto I wanted to create for my brand. I am constantly trying to meet new people and get my company name out there, it is not something that happens over night. It takes years to build and will always change as I learn new things.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
“It’s not about what you know but who you know.” I take this saying very seriously because it is true. In any business you go into the biggest help will always be who you know and what you know follows but it isn’t everything. My parents taught me to do more than I was asked to do, so whenever I do anything I make sure to always give a little more than my clients expect. It leaves a good impression and creates a better relationship with businesses. A lot of the jobs I get now come through recommendations or word of mouth, I am very pleased to know my reputation is doing fairly well. I continue to value and protect my name, what I produce and how it is done is very important for me. A happy customer always makes me happy. I recently had the opportunity to fly to Nebraska to DP a short film through a fellow co-worker.
