Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maryann Petri. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Maryann, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned in school and why that lesson is important to you?

What I have learned is that there are so many judges and attorneys connected to a person’s case that even their own attorney representing them is involved in the corruption. After writing the book. “Dismantling Family Court Corruption, Why Taking The Kids Was Not Enough,” I have described this book to be a handbook for parents going through the court system even as a Pro Se Litigant. There are takeaways to explain certain definitions and psychological abuse, especially of children..

Maryann, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I offer the podcast, Slam the Gavel, available on all platforms and YouTube, with well over 500 episodes of parents telling their stories of Family Court, Criminal Court, CPS, Custodial Interference, Parental Alienation and Trauma and Healing.

I will be publishing with the fourth book, “Raised By These Wolves, Volume 2 this May. Publisher is Melanie Davis, Triumph Press.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

When I won as a Pro Se in Superior Court in Pennsylvania 406 WDA 2017. This changed the ball game of the ex coming after me for child support as he encouraged the judge to jail me as I was unable to pay the imputed amount of child support he demanded. The judge never looked at evidence as to how I ended up in this predicament.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

I only lasted five days in prison (my 78 year old father paid the $2,000.00 “purge amount” the judge extorted. In prison, I became very ill with chest pain that was not addressed by the prison, nor did they give me the prescription medication that was ordered by my physicians (human rights violations). Five months after getting out of prison I suffered a heart attack with 3 stents to the LAD. Following that. Is when I found out that I won in Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
