Maryangela, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
With Covid, came the issue of meeting face to face. I was able to offer Remote Online Services for all of my clients. One particular client is an elderly lady who lives in Dominican Republic. She and her family needed notarial services but that would entail her traveling to the states. Her son found my business and I was able to complete their signings without her leaving the comfort of her home, let alone Dominican Republic. They are now my most loyal clients and I’ve had the privilege to provide my services for most of their family. Remote Online Services have become a staple in my business model. I have clients from all over.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
My pivot in career came in January of 2020. I had been working for my former employer for 16 years and had found myself in a never-ending cycle of being overlooked, workplace discrimination & racism, as well as trying to balance work-home-motherhood life. At that point, I knew I needed to make a change and make it quick. I had already done the research on what being a notary public meant. As well as had personal experience with my grandmother being a notary. I just didn’t know how many layers were involved in Notary. When I knew I could make this an established business, I jumped at the opportunity. That was 4 years ago, and I haven’t looked back since.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clientele for me has definitely word of mouth. I make it priority to offer amazing customer service and my clients are not ashamed to spread the word about my business. In my eyes, every client is a VIP client.
