We were lucky to catch up with Maryam Khosroanjam recently and have shared our conversation below.
Maryam, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
One of my clients once approached me with a simple yet challenging goal: to increase the sales of their product. At first, I wasn’t sure where to start. So, I took a step back and began by understanding their “why.” Why did they want to advertise this product? What was the story behind it? Who were they trying to reach?
Through this process, I realized they hadn’t fully identified their target audience or crafted a message that could resonate with them. That’s where I came in. I helped them dig deeper into their brand story and their audience’s needs. Then, I created a storytelling scenario that connected their product to their customers’ lives in a meaningful way.
I drew from my own travel and lifestyle experiences to create content that felt authentic and relatable. I showcased how their product could solve a problem or bring joy in a specific scenario, making it much more than just another item to buy.
The results were incredible. Not only did their sales increase, but they also built a deeper connection with their audience. People began to see the product as a solution to their needs rather than just another ad. For me, the most meaningful part was hearing from the client afterward, thanking me for helping them tell their story in a way they hadn’t thought of before. It reminded me why I love doing what I do – creating stories that inspire action and build trust.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Maryam, a storyteller, content creator, and passionate traveler. My journey into this industry is anything but conventional. I studied biotechnology in Scotland and worked as a research assistant at the University of California in Santa Barbara. While I loved the intellectual challenge, I always felt a pull toward something more creative and personal. In 2016, I made the bold decision to leave my job and pursue a dream of working for myself while traveling the world.
Since then, I’ve visited 34 countries and explored over 100 cities, immersing myself in diverse cultures, stories, and experiences. This journey transformed me into a storyteller, someone who can inspire and connect people through creative content. My work revolves around travel, lifestyle, and anything intriguing that sparks curiosity.
I collaborate with businesses to help them increase sales, build brand awareness, and connect authentically with their audiences. Using storytelling techniques, I craft campaigns that turn products and services into meaningful narratives. My clients appreciate how I use my personal experiences and insights to create content that not only promotes their brand but also resonates deeply with their target audience.
What sets me apart is my approach: I don’t just create ads; I create stories. I focus on understanding the “why” behind a product or service, and I craft narratives that inspire action and build trust. Whether it’s showcasing a destination, promoting a product, or sharing an experience, I aim to connect emotionally with my audience.
The thing I’m most proud of is taking that leap of faith to leave a stable job and pursue my dream. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. How did you build your audience on social media?
The story of how I built my audience on social media is rooted in authenticity and a passion for inspiring others. When I first started, I didn’t rely on campaigns, bots, or third-party apps to create traffic or gain followers. I focused solely on creating offending content—content that challenges people to step out of their comfort zones and explore the world around them.
I wanted to show people that travel isn’t just for the wealthy or privileged. You don’t need a lot of money; you just need the courage to be adventurous and curious. Through my posts, I shared tips, stories, and experiences that proved anyone could embrace a traveler’s mindset.
The key to my growth was inspiring others through relatable, real content. My posts resonated deeply with people and were shared widely among followers. Slowly but steadily, my audience grew as people connected with my message and my authenticity.
Today, I’ve grown my community from 0 to over 236k followers without any shortcuts. It’s been a journey of consistent effort, creativity, and staying true to my voice.

2. Provide Value: Teach something, inspire action, or solve a problem for your audience. Content that helps others is more likely to be shared.

4. Be Patient and Consistent: Growth takes time. Stay committed to posting regularly and improving your content along the way.
5. Inspire Action: Whether it’s to travel, learn, or try something new, motivate your audience to take a step forward.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation within my market is my commitment to honesty and transparency with my followers. Whenever I advertise a product or run a campaign, I always do thorough research beforehand to ensure it aligns with my values and won’t break the trust of my community.
I understand that trust is everything, and I never promote something just for the money. My followers know that if I recommend a product, it’s because I genuinely believe in it and have taken the time to verify its quality. This integrity has been the foundation of my reputation, and it’s why my audience continues to trust and support me.
