We recently connected with Mary Yasol and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mary, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success has a different meaning to each of us. For me, it’s all about reaching the goals I set for myself and those I care about year after year. To be successful, you’ve got to have a plan and the dedication to chase after what you want. It’s about a continuous learning journey, enjoying the process, and finding new ways to make things happen. Plus, breaking down those big, daunting goals into smaller, manageable steps is critical. This approach helps prevent you from feeling overwhelmed and keeps you on the path to success.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was born and raised in the Philippines, with a background in international real estate sales and competing and winning in beauty pageants. I am celebrating my 11th year in the USA this November, 2023. I’ve been a Miami resident for the last five years and have built my real estate career, where I have received multiple top producer awards and have represented and worked with people from all walks of life to the ultra-high net worth individuals in their real estate transactions, developments and while at this work, I had the opportunity to create, invest in one my vision and dreams for beauty and relaxation. I created The Chic Beauty Bar, a chic place for luxury and nontoxic nails, hair, facial services, and events.
As I built my career, I worked tirelessly to exceed my clients’ expectations. This drive led to burnout and stress, and I often neglected my health and personal happiness. Despite my dedication to others, I realized I needed a way to enjoy life, feel special, and make my money count. And being a self proclaimed spa snob by having tried unique treatments worldwide, but I struggled to find that same experience in Florida.
That’s when the idea for The Chic Beauty Bar was born. I wanted to create a place where people could indulge themselves, feel unique, and truly get their money’s worth. Our goal is to introduce the latest trends in nail care, provide pampered services, and even host special events. We’re just getting started, and we’re excited to partner with the best brands to bring more beautiful experiences to the beauty and wellness community. So, if you’re seeking something extraordinary in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, we’ve got you covered.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
At just 32 years old and juggling multiple businesses and creating more, my journey has been far from smooth sailing. It’s a testament to my resilience and unwavering commitment to never giving up on my dreams.
It all began with defying my parents’ expectations, which led to some time apart. But eventually, I managed to make them incredibly proud of my accomplishments. I also settled down early in life with the wrong partner, a decision that nearly cost me everything. Then, I took the bold step of relocating across the globe and moving to new cities where I knew no one but myself. I had to start from scratch, not just once but three times—yes, you read that right, three times!
Most people would have thrown in the towel, and trust me, I had my moments of wanting to do just that. But as the days rolled on, I found that doing less left me bored. Life is so short, and there’s no reason not to live up to your full potential and enjoy every bit of it with the people who matter most to you. So, despite the hardships, I keep pushing forward because living life to the fullest is worth every challenge.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
No matter how meticulously you plan, life always throws uncertainties your way, and it’s crucial to adapt and pivot before things take a turn for the worse. Let me share a recent experience to illustrate this.
I decided to entrust an assistant manager responsible for running my Fort Lauderdale Spa location. I saw it as an opportunity to provide that person with stability and growth, but unfortunately, I ended up being lied to, cheated, and stolen from. This ordeal led to the loss of my staff and some loyal clients, and it caused setbacks in our production. Instead of harboring anger, I took it as a valuable lesson.
The key takeaway is that only some people have the same good intentions as you do. Sometimes, it’s better to start anew with a clean slate, learning to be cautious while giving opportunities because life is full of unexpected twists and turns.
