We recently connected with Mary Tubach and have shared our conversation below.
Mary, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents never told me I couldn’t do something because “it was too much” or because “I was a girl”. I literally took on as much as humanly possible growing up between sports, activities, and school. And I was the type of kid who wanted to try EVERYTHING. My schedule was always full to the max which taught me so much about time management (something that is essential when you are an entrepreneur). I remember high school days when I would leave the house at 730am and get home at 9 o’clock at night because I had volleyball practice after school followed by choir practice at night. And I was still able to get all of my homework done as an honors student. It allowed me to explore what I truly wanted to do in life while building the confidence needed to be successful through school when becoming a Physician Assistant, an extremely rigorous and fast paced program. Now, I work full time as a Physician Assistant in urgent care, am building an online health and Life coaching business as well as being a single mom who keeps up with nutrition and fitness to feel my best self. I have no doubt that my parents support in all of my different activities and telling me, “Sure, you can do it all”, is what has led me to be successful in not only my career as a PA but now as a coach to others who are taking on multiple responsibilities like me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have always had a passion for health and fitness and knew from an early age I wanted to go into medicine. Once I became a PA, I craved being able to touch people’s lives more than just prescribing medicine and fixing the “right now” problem. My husband at the time was a personal trainer, so I got my personal training certification and nutrition coaching certification with the intent of building a bigger business with him. Soon afterward, my marriage fell apart and I was left overwhelmed with the multiple demands of being a single parent with 2 boys, a dog, a full time job and a house to manage. My health and fitness was always a priority for me and I felt as though i was falling behind in everything. I was struggling and exhausted all the time. As I began to piece together ways to be more efficient, whether it was meal prepping, workouts, or managing the home, I began to realize how many people were in my shoes. This is when I had the idea to use all of my knowledge as a PA, personal trainer and nutrition coach to start a company that also helps the busy professionals of the world who are feeling drained and burnt out. I wanted to show them that they can do it all and not sacrifice themselves to a point of exhaustion. That little changes can have a huge impact. That they can get their energy back and find themselves again. I really dig deep with my clients and find the root causes of why they are struggling so that the solutions we come up with are not only specifically tailored to them but are sustainable changes so they can maintain it for life.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My life was flipped upside down when I found out my husband cheated on me eventually leaving to our divorce. I would have never thought I could bounce back from something like that and have a more fulfilled and happier life. Over time, I learned to let go of the life that I always thought I would have and not only accept a different future for myself, but build one that feels more “me”. That feels good to wake up to every day. One that leaves me excited about my future. Where I get to work with inspiring people who are also trying to build a better world.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Persistence. Life just isn’t always perfect and sometimes it takes multiple tries to figure out the right solution to a problem. Persisting through frustrations and understanding that the process of change is trial and error is essential to making sure clients are successful.
