Hi Mary, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My first aura photograph changed my life and I knew I wanted to do the same for others. I traveled to Sedona, Arizona in 2017 with my husband, Krystian, to have our auras photographed as this was the closest Kirlian film photographer to us at that time. After my life altering experience, I knew I had to bring this camera to Arkansas with hopes to not only offer people a beautiful color film portrait of themselves but to also offer them introspection, validation, and insight into their lives. What I came to find out is how much I want to share aura photography with the rest of the world.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Mary Samek. I am the owner of Happy Aura which I started in 2021. Happy Aura is a Kirlian film photography service. I employ the AuraCam 6000 which, through quantum physics, gathers data with silver lined hand sensors that take electro-dermal and temperature readings. Your vibrations (vibes) are measured in hertz, the hertz are translated into color, and then a representation of aura colors are projected onto an Instax film headshot. From there, my team and I are trained to interpret those colors, the placement on the photo, and some of those meanings. We focus less on psychic abilities and more on providing deep insights.
The community of aura photographers is small and everyone brings something unique to the table. Happy Aura’s readings are different than most as our offerings are from a more a holistic approach. We believe that part of maintaining a well balanced life includes energetic check-ups and aura photography provides that and more.
My dream of bringing a life changing experience to others has come true. Clients regularly tell me how their aura photo changed their life. It truly is one of the best feelings to know that I am helping others. Not to mention, it is nice seeing how many photos I’ve taken that have now become client’s profile pics!

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Once you have your aura photographed with Happy Aura, you become part of the family. We share personal stories and experiences on our Instagram and Facebook giving people insight on the life of aura photographers to show you that a lot of the advice we give out, we too need to follow. Our clients know that anytime after a session with us, they can call, text, or email with any questions they may have about their photograph and reading – which is not common in our industry. Very rarely (we’re not perfect) does a message go unanswered.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I am going to have to shine the spotlight on my business partner and husband, Krystian Samek. He has helped make this dream a reality and I wouldn’t be where I am at today without his unwavering support. We met in Gulf Shores, Alabama in 2011 and the rest is history. Coming from owning a unique vintage shop, adding owning a unique camera to his résumé only made sense. He has a love of quantum physics along with a psychology degree and an eye for photography. I cannot think of anyone else I would rather partner with up on this Happy Aura adventure. Not to mention, he carries all the heavy equipment for me!
